Nestled in the heart of Singapore's Jalan Besar Heritage Trail, Wan He Lou offers the best of Chinese cuisine at the most affordable prices.
The dining space was pleasant and service was friendly. The food was good and prices were reasonable.
Tasty food and affordable prices, with a casual comfortable ambience, is a winning combination, however, I've yet to see the service during peak periods. Planning to return!
Overall, Wan He Lou with its signature Lobster Porridge is definitely worth your visit. Chef Lau definitely has the talent to create a delicious and interesting dishes. I personally prefer their ala carte menu. Cheers!!

You can taste the sincerity in their food.
Good to see another young couple working hard at their craft. I think the blue rice and blue drinks are great for marketing, especially in the age of Instagram. But, in the long run, I think it is the quality of the food that will enable them to succeed.
The chicken was obviously over fried cos the fried chicken skin is dark in color. Um.. other than that there is nothing special...other than the instagram worthy rice. Is it Worth the shot?

Today, their consistent quality over the years means they still remain a solid place for Bak Kut Teh, albeit with slightly more premium pricing.
Overall, it makes for a great warm, casual and tasty meal.
At this Founder Bak Kut Teh revisit, we find the standard is pretty consistent as our first and we noticed that they did not increase their prices. In addition, they serve dishes that are generally geared towards the sweet end.

But though the food was decent, there are many other dim sum places that can satisfy my tummy better.

Even though Fatty Thai offers frills-free dishes, both their Ba Mee Kiao Moo Dang and Khao Ka Moo are delicious and moreish.
Their plate of wanton mee is already very good, but with their persistence in trying to improve it, I reckon we should be seeing more Fatty Thai branches in the market soon!

Singapore local delight in Sin Chin Wah coffeeshop!
My only gripe was the lack of ingredients. I expected more lap cheong (Chinese sausage) and more see hum (cockles) for the $4 portion that I ordered. If you’re a char kway teow fan, you definitely can’t miss this.
I am sure there must be some fans here who have been eating the char kway teow since they were at the old coffeeshop at Maude street!

The noodles dishes at Seow Choon Hua Restaurant were simple comfort food which were delicious and enjoyable.
Foo Chow Fishballs are different in that they are stuffed with minced pork. It is authentic, with a big heavy fish paste engulfing minced pork flavoured just like times of old.

Overall, the prawn noodle was nice though not quite memorable as yet but do support this passionate young hawker if you happen to be in this food centre.
👉 If you are around the Beach Road / Lavender area, do give this new hawker stall a try. It's an enjoyable bowl of Penang inspired prawn mee. New stalls like Prawn Village 虾乡味 restore my optimism about the future of Singapore hawker culture. Bravo Anson.

Besides the Fried Fish Soup, it also offers steam fish soup, mixed fish soup, fish head soup on the menu. Customer has a choice of adding yee mee, thick noodle, thin noodle and mee sua with the fish soup too.
On the whole it was an enjoyable bowl of noodles in a clean comfortable space. I would go back to Blanco Court Fried Fish Noodles to try other items on their menu.
