Yi Bing Qing is a big name when it comes to steamboat restaurant in Penang, the well-established steamboat restaurant is known to serve some of the best Teo Chew styled Fish Head Hot Pot in town. The signature Fish Head Hot Pot would consist Deep Fried Fish Head and meat in milky broth, Yam, Cabbage and Pork Balls, additional items can be ordered at additional costs. The restaurant is fully air-conditioned but in the event the place is fully occupied, diners may be required to be seated outside (if they are willing to). Advance reservation needs to be made early to avoid disappointment, walk-in as early as possible otherwise.
This restaurant is considered a hidden gem as it is under the radar of most visitors to Penang. We count it as one of our favourite Hokkien Mee in Penang due to its robust broth, amazing toppings (the siew yoke is good), generous portion and comfortable dining space.
Likewise, the Tom Yum was also lightly seasoned, the spiciness was weak too. Fortunately, most of the hot pot ingredients were fresh and when cooked together, it did make a contenting hot pot meal.
While we thought the Curry Mee was okay, we did not think it was anything special... pretty much a bowl of standard Penang Curry Mee; though we did agree that they were rather generous with the toppings
If you are there looking for a quick bite on something to fill up your stomach, you can try their Koay Teow Soup.
