Desserts were pretty and definitely Instagram-worthy, but I’d say the stars of the evening were the savoury dishes.
So take a seat, do some homework prior to that to prevent burning a larger-than-life hole in your pocket, knock back some gorgeous wines and enjoy a four course meal for an affable $98 - trust me, it's worth the call-out fee.
One menu but diners can get to order from any of the three open-concept kitchens offering Japanese, French and Chinese cuisines. It is kind of a dream comes true when there is variety and something everyone, especially when dining in a group. Not to forget the stunning view over looking the marina bay.

There are many new innovations and much more to Bakbak than just simple bakuteh, but they've done right already.
I really enjoyed some of the creations they introduced. Bakbak’s Pork Rib Soup with Sea Cucumber is my favourite main dish but it’s quite pricey, and perhaps should be shared between two.
It shows that Bak Kut Teh, like Singapore food, cannot just stand still. It needs a new perspective as the years roll by, and our heritage food needs to evolve with the times.

Lotus kitchen recently opened as a slightly upscale spin off of Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant in the heart of Chinatown, promising to make gourmet vegetarian food more accessible to the masses.

While I'm not a vegetarian, I can see myself coming back to Lotus Kitchen for their meatless creations more often. Its accessible location and reasonable pricing are added draw to the quality food.

The cheap laksa at Woo Ji Cooked Food far exceeded my expectations.

Personally, it was nice, but with the many other options in CBD you would be better off somewhere else for a more affordable price.
Although these outposts are much more affordable, Mandarin Orchard does not compromise on the service, decor, and quality of the food. I welcome this change to make food more accessible to everyone and I wish all fine-dining restaurants can follow suit.
Overall, this is no doubt a good option and business initiative by the Meritus hotel group for diners to enjoy the famous Chatterbox Chicken Rice at a fraction of its original price.

The paper-thin skin was crispy and surprisingly not greasy, unlike the other roasted ducks that I had tasted, it is good to eat on its own and even without the accompanying chili sauce.
With high ambitions to earn the much coveted Michelin Star, I say all the quack luck Duck Master! One can only hope against hope they do not earn the accolade else it would mean taking queue numbers for collection later in the week!

Haikee Brothers is where old meets new and communes as one.
We will eat there again if we want a quick tasty meal.
While the Roasted Pork was slightly on the tough side, the BBQ Char Siew with its caramelised sweetness and tender meat was well worth the order as well.
Overall, Haikee Brothers is a great place for families for casual get-togethers or just a meal over the weekend; there are a number of modern dishes as well as classics that would suit both the young and old.

This is a dessert shop at South Bridge Road that sells BOTH Japanese style Kakigori and local traditional desserts.
The food quality is generally decent considering the items we have had, though there is definitely room for improvement for the Kakigori; there is certainly some potential with the Kakigori here, though the flavours would need to be stronger to leave a better and lasting impression to patrons.

Chao San definitely surprised me and I left with my curiosity piqued about teochew cuisine yet again, onto more foodie adventures!
Service has always been ho-hum. But orders get taken and food is served fast. No complaints.
The restaurant was packed even for a weekday dinner and lucky for us, we made a quick reservation before heading down. The ambience reminded me of Lee Kui – full of chatter yet oddly comforting and familiar.
