Located in Petaling Street aka Chinatown, what was previously a brothel is now PS150, a cocktail bar headed by famed bartender Angel Ng. PS150 may still maintain much of its pre-war building’s character, making it one of the most worthwhile visiting bar in KL. The entrance is dimly lit, and you'll have to go through a series of creaky wooden doors to finally get to the main bar area which has the theme color of red!
Reasons to try the new Wildflowers menu: Vibrant South-east Asian flavours; generous portions; gorgeous setting; lovely for dates, small groups, or even alone to people watch from downstairs; don’t miss the Rosemary Creme Brûlée or Seared Eggplant; cocktails drinkers must try the Doki Doki.
The Irish stew (RM42) had a wonderful homemade quality to it. The lamb shoulder has been braised until tender, with potatoes and carrots. Usually when I make it at home, I serve it with garlic bread, however Wildflower gives this an Asian twist, serving the stew with toasted Hainanese bread drizzled with truffle oil. Perfect for soaking up all that delicious sauce.
Reasons to visit Wildflowers KL: value for money; decently sized portions; beautiful setting; refreshingly original dishes; casual fun atmosphere; conveniently accessed by the MRT.
Overall, we enjoyed the dishes here. We recommend the risotto and oysters – but the steak was just so-so, albeit it was good value for the money.
Reasons to visit Small Shifting Space (SSS): such a cool space! – do have a poke around both upstairs and downstairs and check out the glass-covered balcony that will soon be available for events; a well-chosen wine list; don’t miss the tortellini!
Food was pretty good. I liked the BBQ pork, it was sweet and succulent. There were crispy bit all around the pork which made it even more appealing. It was an awesome addition to the rice and noodles. The roast chicken was tender and juicy, each piece came in a generous portion size. The noodles were nice and springy. Overall, enjoyable food.
BOTAK|LIQUOR’s concept varies from the typical bars in the Klang Valley. The team possess strong beliefs for sustainable drinks with focus on pure spirits, local botanicals and the elimination of any inclusion of commercial flavours. Almost like a green bar, but of the alcoholic kind!
Reasons to visit: A comfortable, laid back atmosphere where you could enjoy one drink with one friend or many drinks with many friends. The creative cocktails and spirits offer something very different on the KL bar scene and their attention to freshly grown and organic products should be applauded and enjoyed.
Reasons to visit: beautifully presented and crafted cocktails to tickle the palate; the Lycium Maca Osmanthus Tea is a must-have at every visit; it is the place to visit if you want to impress your friends with your knowledge of the local drinking scene as the walk up to its entrance is as mind-blowing as its drinks.
