Lye Lye Food Court 新来来饮食中心 at Jalan Terengganu is one of the places in town that is packed with great food not just during the morning session but during the evening dinner session, there are also many delicious Penang street food available
Wantan Mee located inside Lye Lye Food Court 新来来饮食中心 at Jalan Terengganu is one of the top-rated stalls in Penang. Have been up and running for 18 years. The texture of the wantan mee is quite bouncy while the sambal (chili paste) is also very spicy and savory. Another attraction is the deep-fried wantan that is crispy and yummy.
So what will enjoy here? first up is a plate of Delicious Succulent Roast Pork, among the best in Penang, with Crispy Skin.
New World City Food Court is located right in the heart of Georgetown. For me, point me to Penang Char Kway Teow and I will go for it! The version here is with Duck Egg and perfect. Wok Hei, not to…
Overall, most of the food here in New World Park Food City are great and delicious.
One of the dish that caught our attention is Loy Kee Wanton Noodle as a number of patrons in other tables have it ordered on their table. We did not realized we have tried it previously when they used to operate at Lebuh Kimberly. The noodles were served al-dente and briming with nice sesame oil flavour, although we felt the pepper was overwhelming. On the other hand, we also had the wanton soup and enjoyed it much. The wanton is packed with nicely seasoned filling.
the food here is pretty good though.
Meanwhile, don’t miss the Kuantan Road curry mee served in a soup boiled with a combination of coconut milk and chili. A standard bowl of curry mee comes with a choice of noodles, along with beansprouts, cuttlefish, cockles, taufu bok, prawns, and pig’s blood cubes. If you are really hungry, have the curry mee with extra roast pork.
Kompleks Makanan Medan Renong is located at Esplanade Penang. this is one of the places in Penang where you can get all the Penang street food and delicacies of both Halal and Non-halal food. The Pasembur and grill cuttlefish here is one of the buckle checklists for first-time Penang. The price for the food here is reasonable and the options are vibrant. The drawback of this place is the off day and operating hours of individual stalls are very different from each other and sometimes might get disappointed when the visit falls on their off day.
This stall serve a plate of fresh cockles and sotong kakung (cuttlefish with water spinach). The cockles are served fresh and only to be dunked with chili with peanut sauce provided, and people who has an affection toward would definitely delighted to see such a generous portion of cockles. Meanwhile we were overwhelmed to have such a portion even there were 4 of us. Sotong Kangkung on the other hand is a popular local snack as well but the taste here was mediocre. More peanut should be able to perform the magic.
Hung Makanan Laut Siput Balitong Stall 飛鴻貝類海鮮。蠔煎 This is quite a famous stall for Shellfish especially Fried Clam La La. It gets ready quite late in the night.
Despite too many stalls, we have managed to select 2 types of food to check out this round. The Hokkien Mee and also Char Koay Teow here. The Hokkien Mee is the classic version that is cooked with charcoal, it is so yummy that the soup is thick and flavourful. The 147-stall Char Koay Teow is also another highlight. This stall allows diners to bring their catch to add to their Char Koay Teow. Frying with wok aroma, this is the modern version of delicacy.
Coming to this food court, somehow brings nostalgia. Somehow, eating in medan selera was never me or my dad's cup of tea, but this one, there is an exception for me. The food here are generally tasty, unlike some of the nice looking and clean food courts in Penang whereby the food is not tasty.

Best Hokkien Mee or Prawn Noodle at One Corner Cafe, Penang.
Yummy Cottage Food Court is one of the food court that sells a lot of varieties of good food which include the few food that I had tried before, the Chai Kuih, Thai Style Koay Teow Thng are great. This round Hock Chai and I had tried out the Chicken Rice (Kow Loon九龙), Hong Kong Style Chee Cheong Fun and Pan Cake (Bang Chang Kuih) here are marvelous too. For those that looking for varieties of good food under one roof, please visit this place.
This particular stall in Yummy Cottage is one of the few that selling Thai style koay teow thng. The taste of the soup is different from the Penang style, in fact the soup is more similar to Bah Kut Teh soup. The base of the soup is packed with Thai basil leaf fragrance and also the herbs that are used similar to those in Thailand. The taste of this koay teow thng is like bringing us to the Land of Smile.
This is one of the delicious instantly made Chai Kuih. The taste of the Chai Kuih is juicy and soft.
White curry mee in Red Garden is really a hidden gem that not many people know! The taste is rich, and after adding the chili it makes a sleek finishing for the soup. Strongly recommended if you happen to visit Red Garden. Lor Mee is another great option too, having a aromatic soup with decent fluidity despite it being a starch soup. Add the chili and garlic to give it an elevation in terms of taste.
He says: My favourite lok lok! =) Loveeee fried wantons, loh bak and the "ju hu eng chai" (cuttlefish kangkong). She says: All the raw foods are fresh. I like the fried wantons. Not so much meat inside but it's super yummy when you eat it with their spicy sauce.
Just wait for the water to boil and you can start dipping your Lok Lok into the hot water. Mix and match with your own choice of seafood/fish balls or whatever ingredients. One thing for sure, their seafood were very fresh on that day, particularly the squid and prawns, so succulent and juicy, I don't mind having more right now. Most importantly, the satay sauce and the chili padi sauce complemented well with the seafood. Apart from the seafood, they do have various kinds of fish balls, pork meat balls, quail eggs, dumplings, vegetables etc. Recommended.
We were having our lunch here after the Qing Ming Festival. I missed the Lok-lok very much, and I felt comfortable and enjoy having the lok-lok even under the hot sunny day! :)
The Char Koey Teow here is definitely up to Penang Island Standard (Open Lunch till dinner – close Wednesday) and they will custom it to your liking. They will prepare the Char Koey Teow with Duck Egg when cooking. Frankly while some purist and CKT fans prefer using duck eggs for its “superior aroma”, I just cannot feel the difference.
One of the famous food in Penang that been up and running for decades. The taste of the noodle is great while the spicy level is extreme.
