Rump of lamb, slow cooked, eggplant confit, buttered broad beans (RM140) - my favorite main course. The lamb was a beautiful pink, absolutely tender and full of flavour and complemented beautifully with a creamy eggplant confit.

Reasons to visit the Five Elements Pop-Up Experience at Lafite: fine-dining quality injected with a sense of fun and energy; great interactive experience for date night or a social evening with family and friends. Our fave dishes are the confit tomato, mussels poulette, marinated grilled tiger prawns, roasted Spanish quail, red snapper, cherrie’s surprise and the Valrhona Manjari. For something on the lighter side of the cocktails try the Metal Fizz or for something somewhat more serious go for the Wood inspired smoky Negroni.

AS the seafood looks good, so we ordered Hokkaido Scallop and Parsley – pan seared Hokkaido Scallop , parsley puree, Salted Caramel Hazelnut @ RM 40. Enjoy the scallop on the high note, as it was cook to perfection. Slighlty glazed and golden brown on the top, fresh scallop meat and puree is smooth to work well with its caramel hazelnut that did not over power the scallop. Great combination.

I opted for the giant garoupa, crowned with squid ink tuile in a light green broth of nasturtium, parsley chlorophyll and bonito. The deep-sea fish is beautifully cooked and shine on the plate with opaque flesh and natural flavors, while its skin gave a crispy crunch. The fish is served together with truffle mousse, and a side of beautiful looking coral made of pickled radish and salmon roe. The combination of all the ingredients had the taste buds experiencing soft, warm flavors with lingering finishes.

The dining experience consist of 5-course ultimate luxury dining and bold wine pairing. Each session will only accommodate a single table of only sixteen seats. Diners have the option to choose between the 5-course degustation menu without alcohol pairing which is priced at RM799+ or menu with alcohol pairing priced at RM999+ per person. It is highly recommended to opt for the latter as the alcohol pairing will greatly enhance the overall dining experience.

In conclusion I’ve had stronger expectations from the dishes we tried. It was definitely a decent meal, but Enfin by James Won is occupying the sort of space that bolsters expectations of a exceptional experience and that was missing from lunch. The 3-Course Degustation Lunch Menu is priced at RM128 per person, excluding beverage and taxes. À la carte prices range from RM18 – RM138. Lastly there is an optional glass of wine and Champagne pairing for an additional RM89. Chocolate Millefeuille - MYR 16 nett. Coffee Eclair - MYR 13 nett. Both of them are half eaten in the photo above. In a nutshell - while they taste better than those sold in other bakeries but they are still on the sweeter side since they are meant to be sweet pastries so I don't think I will go back for more.

My Personal Opinion Bring your sweet tooth (and, by that, I really mean your sweet tooth) if you want to enjoy these baked goods. Make sure you order yourself a black coffee...and make sure it's bitter (without adding sugar) to cut through all that sweetness, otherwise it'll send you straight to diabetic heaven! ;P In the end, it proved way too sweet for me to have any remote chance of enjoying these sweet goodies. I'm afraid once was quite enough! >_< I'd rather go for the famous Japanese pastry, Chateraise Patisserie, instead.
