Another version of chaat that uses mini puri is Pani Puri, which is served in a set of six puri with a side of sauce. The dark sauce has a distinct tangy taste from tamarind and is highly palatable especially when it is spooned into the opening of the tiny puri and then the whole puri should be popped into the mouth. Once again, it is a feat to accomplish but I assure you that it promises very tasty results.
The Spice Kitchen is definitely a decent place to have your North or South Indian meal in Johor Bahru and another good thing about this place is that they are open till 11 pm daily. We tried a number of dishes, some were very good and some were just okay. Despite the mixed reviews, I would say that this place is worth visiting, especially for cross border travelers who are looking for a vegetarian meal when most places would have already closed for the day. Nevertheless, the ambiance is excellent and their prices are reasonable.
Anyway, this was our dinner for that evening... We were quite disappointed though... Waited for an hour and the two curries were just lukewarm... Well, perhaps we were too hungry that we over-expected...
Claypot Lamb Curry - I was very surprised to find that the curry is had some lamb shank in it! It was very worth the RM34 with the oh-so-tender meat and for the large portion. The curry was tasty and packed with spices so this isn't a mild curry to say the least.
Their Gobi Masala was really good. Thick spicy gravy accompanied the cauliflowers and the preparation was excellent. Similarly, their Chili Mushroom was good too. My rating for both dishes shall be 9/10.
We were presented several of 7 Spice's popular dishes and this huge curry fish head (RM50) was the centre piece. The fresh, thick, supple and still moist flesh was half submerged in thick curry gravy. The fragrant and flavourful curry was smooth and not too spicy, and would appeal to most palettes.
π Shyang Kopitiam is a good place for breakfast with crispy and sweet Chinese style roti canai (prata). If you like your roti and curry to be sweet, mildly spicy, this is for you π
Overall expression: A special of roti canai that design by a chinese chef, they change the traditional roti canai to a new generation. The price of roti canai is very cheap, and the roti canai with the curry was god damn delicious. So is suitable for all the people come to eat

A favourite with many Indians and non-Indians since opening, Vanakam India wins big points for their consistency, quality of its pan-Indian fare and the knowledge of the friendly serving staff. If, like us, youβre into the origins of authentic recipes and travel vicariously through eating, this Indian restaurant by Bala and acclaimed show celeb Gowri will definitely appeal!
Black pepper crab is humongous, meat is fresh and tender :)
(This is purely my personal food review and i am not getting paid for this review)This restaurant serves authentic Indian food which will give us the taste o...
One of my top favourite nasi briyani places in Johor, Malaysia and Singapore now. Everything from the meat, rice to curry are excellent.
The red sign reads 'Pondok MS Beryani' is located nearby Plaza Angsana shopping complex at Bandar Baru UDA, Johor Bahru. The restaurant is run by the local here and his family, who are from Johor and they specialize in Nasi Beryani and Beryani Gam Johor.
Kali ni aku nak ceritakan pasal satu kedai makan yang sangat aku puas hati. Aku memang pakar bab rase-merase nasi beriani, yelaa dulu arwah ayah aku ade restoran nasi beriani...Die memang sangat pakar buat nasi beriani, lagi-lagi beriani kambing die, mak aku buat pun tak sesedap arwah papa yang wat...kalau makan arwah papa aku yang buat, kompem terangkat..!! hahaha Giler sedap weh....
When the plate of pratha was set before me, I saw the poached eggs resting on a bed of roti, moving because they were still wobbly. The two eggs on the roti were reminiscent of Eggs Benedict ala Kerala Restaurant style, drizzled with whirls of lightly spiced curry instead of hollandaise sauce. He watched as I ate and wiped the plate clean of egg and curry with the small pieces of roti that were served torn.
To this day, Kerala Restaurant still serves a full banana-leaf rice meal for lunch while breads like dosai, idili and apam are mainly served for breakfast.
One of JBβs oldest Indian restaurants still serving traditional Kerala dishes on banana leaves. Home cooked style dishes with fresh ingredients and gently spicy aromatic flavourful spices.
Spice Grill is a fine dining restaurant that serves fusion and authentic Indian Cuisine.
Apart from sourcing for more fun places in Johor Bahru, we also try out various cuisine and bookmark our favourite makan hunts. Recently, we have added Spice Villa as one of our favourite spot whenever we crave for Indian Cuisine. Located within Holiday Villa Johor Bahru, opposite KSL City, it is convenient to drop by for lunch or dinner after completing our shopping trip.
I shall be back to try briyani with local raised country deer
The best part of Dean Briyani Hyderabad is the blend of spices and basmati rice.
Bagi saya takde la special sangat nasi briyani sini dan kalau nak banding dengan Briyani Md Shah di Batu Pahat (KLIK SINI) memang jauh lagi sedap Md Shah punya. Bolih jadi sebab terlalu banyak rempah dia guna kot sampai hilang wangi nasi nya.
Dean Briyani Hyderabad is a relatively young business. Opened just over two years ago, Dean Briyani Hyderabad shot to fame quickly with media attention and word of mouth.
Enjoy an authentic foodie experience in a laid back hawker centre where people hang out to share stories (not a soul less eat-and-run once you are done place).
Recommended for biryani lovers, especially those who like Hyderabadi dum biryani.
I enjoyed all the dishes I tried today as they are flavoursome, aromatic, have the textures and moistness I like, and ingredients are fresh.
