The Beef Rendang is a particular winner... with rich and in-depth flavors
A specialty not to be missed is Murtabak (flat bread). Made at the show kitchen at the entrance of the restaurant, the murtabak comes stuffed with a choice of minced chicken, beef, mutton or vegetable fillings. Served with a simple helping of pickled onions, the pan-fried murtabak is simply delectable when paired with a bit of curry chicken and nutty dalcha – a lentil curry infused with herbs and spices.
Overall, I think this was a good meal and the roti and chicken stood at RM9, which is not too bad especially when you count the chicken.
Turun dari feri, gua mula berkayuh mencari arah. Destinasi pertama yang dituju bila mana turun di jeti feri Penang adalah dengan menuju ke lokasi sarapan ...
The roti canai at Transfer Road in Penang has been around for a long time and is often packed during weekends and public holidays. It is best to get there ...
Their Chicken Tikka Masala was good but this time, we had the Kadai Chicken... another spicy curry variant. But the sauce was equally rich and creamy.
这家 GEM Restaurant 就在漆木街(Bishop Street)。平时想来,又怕没有地方泊车,可以考虑通过 Food Panda 享用这里的美食哦。
Looking for the best Chapati in town, look no further than Restoran MAJ. This restaurant has been serving fluffy, fine, and yummy chapati for over 60 years. The chapati is finishing fast and it is taking time to make. Therefore, arriving early is one of the critical factors to avoid disappointment. The curry mutton and bawang (onion) chicken are the dishes that are not to be missed at Maj. These are unforgettable and delectable dishes.
We opted for curry chicken to go along with the chapati and it was a great choice. The curry was nice with a decent creamy and spicy taste, making a good condiment for the chapati. In fact, we wished we had more curry..
We had both Plain Naan and Pudina Parontha; the former one had crispy edges and fluffy middle... though not as fluffy as we would have hoped, the delightful burnt aroma was bold and we thought the thin flat bread worked pretty well with their Yogurt dip.
Roti Canai in Penang is served a little different than the ones we're used to back in Kuala Lumpur, Penang's roti canai is served with curry and meat, and usually drenched (banjir) with curry automatically by the stall. If you're looking for a breakfast spot when you come to George Town Penang, definitely try out Roti Canai at Jalan Argyll!
The signature drink, Ais Tingkap (RM2.00), contains more ingredients than it appears.
Therefore, we had fried chicken, kambing kurma, hard boiled egg and spinach. Fried chicken was alright but perhaps a little bit more seasoning would help; Kambing kurma is good with the soft & tender texture; while the spinach gives a subtle flavour.

Nasi Kandar Merlin is one of the famous Nasi Kandar Shops in Penang. Serving delicious and yummy nasi kandar for 55 years this shop is still famous and well known. The must-order dishes here are curry chicken, curry beef, and curry prawn. Their curry is packed with spices and aroma, thick and flavorful. For those that take beef, the curry beef is not to be missed.
The banana leaf rice set is served in a combination of traditional and modern way. Rice is still being laid on a banana leaf, but the dishes and gravies are served in a single steel cup instead of being scooped on the banana leaf. Well, we loved every bits of the gravies here, and the dishes were delicious. If ever we felt the taste became too complicated, a bite of the picked chili will help to cleanse the entire taste buds.
Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng in Penang definitely should be on your things to eat list when you visiting Penang! Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng is one of the oldest food stalls in Penang, it has been around for more than 80 years. Get entertained by their amazing wok spins, and feast on its aromatic wok-charred delicious Mamak Style Mee Goreng, don't forget to ask for extra sotong!
They’re truly the epitome of a hidden gem in Penang.
Krsna should be the place to check out their dosai served on banana leaf. Dosai is a kind of Indian crepe that made from rice and black gram that is naturally fermented overnight. Therefore, it carries a bit of soury taste, well compliment with chutney and sambar that was left on every table for unlimited refill. First timer should go with the plain dosai. Spicy lover may go for the onion version while masala dosai for those opting for much filling option.
Wahap is a classic stall at Jalan Dato Keramat that is selling Murtabak and also Roti Canai. This humble little stall is located just opposite Pos Office Dato Keramat. Serving delicious Murtabak and also special Roti Sarang Burung (Birdnest), the price of the dishes here is very reasonable. This place is a must to visit for those that love murtabak or roti canai.
Here's the location.
While the seasoning might be slightly muted for the Thali Briyani Set, the Mutton Briyani was not. It was expertly seasoned and packed with a powerful punch from the spices. The Muttom was deliciously tender and worked well with the spiced long grain rice.
Liverpool Roti Canai is one of the highly recommended stalls of delicious roti canai and murtabak. The name of this stall has been highlighted to me by the public many times. Therefore, paying a visit to this place is a must. The Roti Canai here is crunchy and well accompanied by the kuah (curry) while the price is very reasonable at RM1 per piece. Besides that, the Murtabak is also packed with flavourful inside with a crunchy outer layer, served with pickle onion and Kuah, this dish is marvelous. The only drawback is the limited parking space available at this place, where the diners might need to park further away and walk to this place.
The Mee Goreng here is moist and not spicy, with flavours coming from the blend of sauces (including kuah kacang and other secret ingredients). Hence, the mee goreng has a more rounded savoury, earthy taste vs. the typical mee goreng that is heavy on the kicap manis.
