On the whole, I enjoyed the dining moments here today. Their service was really good and I received my food in less than 15 minutes. Their courtesy was also great and I am sure that they have been reminded to treat their customers with respect. Though my visit was brief, I definitely had an enjoyable and satisfying moment here today.

Man, the fried tenggiri fish is da bomb. Do give it a try if you haven’t already. The price of the fish varies according to the size of the fish, so if you want a bigger piece of fish, do head on over to the frying pan and choose the fish you’d want them to fry for you. This seriously is delicious. If I was not watching my calories, I would order another one. The chicken varuval was equally as yummy. Usually, you would get quite a lot of bones accompanying the meat, as in the bits and pieces that accompanies the dish on a plate, sometimes you would get meat and some times bones. The bones kindda makes up a whole piece, with no meat on it. Here though, every piece has meat on it. Yay!

Overall, I would rate this as one of the best banana leaf rice we've had this year. The basic components of the banana leaf rice impressed and all the sides such as mutton, fish and bittergourd were well executed.

Our Lobster Biryani @ RM280 was served in a large steel pot, sealed with pastry dough which locks up the flavours while cooking. This dish was so massive the staff had to use a trolley to send the large steel pot over to your table. Taste wise we thought it was simply delicious and imparted a unique sweetness which can’t be replaced with Chicken, Mutton or Lamb. This hint of sweetness which came from the Lobster helped elevate the dish to a different level compared to other biryanis. The lobster by itself was fresh and succulent and had that delicious tender bite.

Mutton Bamboo Briyani @ RM 16.00 Some may say that this is expensive but honestly, it's not. The amount of spices used and the excellent taste is something else altogether. That is why, despite the place being quite a journey for me, I am still willing to travel all the way just for this heavenly Briyani. The Mutton chunks were so perfect and it comes with some slight gravy. Even the rice was so aromatic and tasty. 10/10 would be my rating for this Bamboo Mutton Briyani and I am truly glad that the taste has been consistent.

Chicken Briyani,13 ringgit + Mutton Briyani, 16 ringgit It sure was delicious. I would totally come back for more. The fact that the rice is steamed in the bamboo towards the end made the meat and the rice moist. The chicken literally breaks apart as soon as you start tearing into it. It is packed with flavor with a hint of sweetness. The mutton was chewy but not overly chewy – sometimes you’d find restaurants serving mutton meat that refuses to disintegrate in your mouth despite all the chewing? Yea, the kind that makes you feel like the chewing is never going to end? Yup, that isnt the case here. Here, you chew and the mutton breaks apart easily. Imagine the delicious, tender meat + flavorful, moist briyani rice … soooo yummy! I sure ate like a pig, finished the whole thing, it was enough to last me till the next morning, no joke.

Indian Rice Meal + Chicken Briyani , 23 ringgit The briyani was tasty. The rice was fragrant and moist. I like briyani rice that are dense, moist because then, you do not always have to add on curry/gravy. Having it on its own allows you to truly appreciate its taste. The chicken and the rice is all cooked together in one big pot.If the rice is moist and dense, imagine the chicken. It literally falls off the bone, I had no trouble peeling off the meat. It was yummy.

I loved this authentic Penang's Nasi Kandar, just mixed them all up - rice with the spicy, flavoursome and thick gravies to send you to seventh heaven. If you're a big eater, can opt for NASI AYAM BESAR for RM 8.50 but seriously the NASI AYAM KECIL for RM 6 is a huge portion indeed ~ very generous if compared to many others stalls.

This particular plate of Nasi Kandar cost RM8.50 as we opted for the bigger chicken. It is certainly not overpriced compared to Kok Siong or any chain Nasi Kandar as the chicken we had was huge. The curries were the best part as it was spicy, thick and flavoursome. The spiciness were indeed unique, nothing like what you’d find in random mamak stalls. The fried chicken was super crispy yet moist and tender on the inside. It is one of the must try when you dine in Zainul Nasi Kandar. The fried chicken we had was really fresh, you can clearly see steam being released when you rip into it.

Murgh Bombay Bohri Briyani, 50 ringgit. This was delicious yawwwwww. The rice was moist and soft + tender bits of chicken scattered all over and contrary to the usual, I did not even need to add gravy in. The moistness and softness + spices and flavor from the briyani rice was just right that there was no need to add on gravy in hopes of adding flavor. No need at all. The chicken pieces were tender and the meat almost drops of the bone. What better combination can I ask for? Yummm !

Indian Rice Set, 7.50. The Indian Rice Set was made up of rice + curry of your choice + 3 vegetables + acar + fried coconut? + papadums. The orange bits of fried coconut was new to me. I do not think I’ve had it before but I sure did like it though, it complimented the rice well. Liked it very much that I had to request for a refill, lol. The vegetables very awesome, I especially liked the couliflower – got a refill of that too.

Tastiness aside, there are a few more reasons why I like this particular cendol more. Firstly, they provide proper bowls instead of those polystyrene ones – environmental friendlier. Secondly the blades they use are sharper hence able to produce finer shaved ice – I just hate biting on those coarse ice bits. Thirdly, although the price is cheap (RM1.20 small, RM1.50 big) they don’t really stinge on the ingredients so much that you feel like you are just drinking diluted coconut milk.

Will I be back? Well, I don’t see anything that appeals to me on the breakfast menu nor the lunch. Lunch is simply rice (or puttu /iddiyappam) with sides while dinner is just kottu again, though with choices of puttu, iddiyappam or roti. However, I don’t mind returning on a Sunday for their RM38/pax Sunday lunch buffet. I was promised authentic Sri Lankan crab curry and unlimited curries.

When dining in a Indian restaurant like this, Briyani is always a MUST TRY. The Chicken Briyani was beautifully presented and is part of what made this dish so special. The chutney and yogurt on the side was certainly a good touch and adds so much depth.

A Thali Set at MYR 31.90+ (10% service charge = MYR 35.09 nett). This set consists of Fish Curry, Chicken Curry (Kadai Chicken), Lamb Curry (Lamb Roganjosh), Potato Curry (Alo Mutter), Okra Onion Stir Fry (Bindi do Pyaaza), Tomato Dal (Tomato Pappu Dal), Phirni dessert I ate all of the dessert but only a bit of the rice, butter naan, each of the savoury dishes and kept most of it for my other meals. The lamb is tender and the curries are very flavourful with the taste of different spices so I will definitely be back for their other dishes.

Hyderabad Nizam Biriyani (Chicken), 24.90 ringgit. I especially lurveee the biriyani. It is one of those dishes that had just the right amount of wetness, gooeyness and filled with flavor, to an extent that you can forego the gravies that came on the side because between the rice and the chicken – there was enough spices and flavors to go around. Know what I mean? That being said, the gravies were yummy too. The dhal was delicious and most importantly thick. I dislike watered down dhal – it is gross. Then, there was mooru/yogurt and pickled, sweetish vegetables. It was tasty enough that I ate the 3 sides on its own. I had the biriyani rice and the chicken by itself. The chicken was da bomb. They sure were generous with the meat here – 2 large pieces. Imagine those spice infused tender, meaty chicken + flavorful, moist biriyani rice – very nice. It was a satisfying hearty meal.

MyBanana also does roti with a porky twist, ie their new Roti bacon cheese. Highly recommended - the roti was crisp with melting, oozy cheese and bacon bits in the centre. Simply awesome, I think I've found my new favorite roti!

The Thali meal was delicious. I liked having this particular meal because it allows you to taste a bit of everything. That ‘bit’ came in 8 varieties – payasam, acar, lightly fried coconut, fried brinjal, longbeans, aviyal, rasam and sambar. Yummy! The fish curry was awesome – thick and real flavorful, packed with spices. The only downside to this dish was the fish, as yummy as it was, it came in a small piece, hardly lasted me through half of the rice. Considering this dish as a whole is worth 15 ringgit, I guess the small piece of fish can be overlooked but it sucked though – fish was good too, wish I had more.

Fish Briyani, 19 ringgit. This was tastefull too. You would basically get similar ingredients that accompanied the chicken briyani except for the meat, of course. Here, you would get yourself a tender, flavorful fish. Yummy. The only downside to this dish was that compared to the chicken briyani, which came with plenty of gravy, which in turn made the whole dish moist, this dish came with a lack of gravy. This meant that the rice was not moist as briyani rice should be, the rice here was pretty dry. However, worry not. They were more than willing to to provide you with gravy/curry of your choice. With the gravy, this dish was pretty good.

I especially loved the chicken varuval. It was not hot and spicy and neither was it packed with spice but it tasted awesome. The chicken texture was on point – soft, chewy and tender.
