Afterall, with the crowd seen, we believe it wont go far from being nice. No harm trying. Rojak biasa is priced at RM4.20, Rojak with Sotong is RM5.70 per packet. Shredded cucumber, sengkuang, deep fried dough fritters, prawn fritters, hard boiled egg and cuttlefish piled up, dressed in a bed of thick, peanuty sauce that carries mild spiciness and sweetness. Gravy was tad too sweet for our liking, while for ingredients, we do like the crispy prawn fritters. Sotong was properly cooked too, chewy but not rubbery.

Hyderabad Dum Briyani at MYR 20 nett. The portion is big enough for 2 regular eaters. The yogurt dip is sourish so it is refreshing. It is only slightly spicy unless you bite on a peppercorn or dried chili.

The butter chicken is a mild, creamy curry, so it's perfect for kids and for those who can't take food that is too spicy. Rogan josh is my personal favorite curry; chunks of tender mutton in an aromatic curry. Our meal here brought back so many good memories of our days enjoying a good Indian meal in the UK.

Prices here are slightly above the average banana leaf eatery but the taste of their food totally made up for it.

Rice + 4 Vegetables + Papadum, 6 ringgit, Chicken Varuval, 8 ringgit, Sura Puttu, 6 ringgit, Fish Cutlet, 5 ringgit = 25 ringgit. Loved every single ingredient on the leaf. Yum! The vegetable option for the day was spinach, cucumber, bittergourd and brinjal. Delicious. The chicken curry was da bomb. Spicy and thick, flavorful, guaranteed to tickle your tastebuds with every single mouth you take. The meats was awesome as well. Couldnt have asked for a better wholesome Indian lunch.

This is a famous banana leaf rice place that I did not know about so my friends took me there for lunch one day. True enough, it was very tasty with very crispy deep fried squid which is a must-order. We shared the meat dishes such as curry mutton, deep fried fish and chicken. I tried the crab rasam and just find it spicy though my friend said it tastes like tom yum to her

Indian Rice Meal + Chicken Briyani , 23 ringgit The briyani was tasty. The rice was fragrant and moist. I like briyani rice that are dense, moist because then, you do not always have to add on curry/gravy. Having it on its own allows you to truly appreciate its taste. The chicken and the rice is all cooked together in one big pot.If the rice is moist and dense, imagine the chicken. It literally falls off the bone, I had no trouble peeling off the meat. It was yummy.

Lunch is simply rice (or puttu /iddiyappam) with sides while dinner is just kottu again, though with choices of puttu, iddiyappam or roti. However, I don’t mind returning on a Sunday for their RM38/pax Sunday lunch buffet. I was promised authentic Sri Lankan crab curry and unlimited curries.

Paneer Burger, 14.90 ringgit This was simply because we both loveeee paneer – cottage cheese and paneer served this way, in a burger? We just had to give it a go, too curious to say no, lol. It was pretty good. The burger buns itself was crispy and a lil sweet, which complimented the paneer itself, which basically tasted as paneer usually would. Good thing that their paneer patty was not too thin or else we would not have been able to taste much. Here, it was just right. I liked this dish very much. I’d order it again too.

Tastiness aside, there are a few more reasons why I like this particular cendol more. Firstly, they provide proper bowls instead of those polystyrene ones – environmental friendlier. Secondly the blades they use are sharper hence able to produce finer shaved ice – I just hate biting on those coarse ice bits. Thirdly, although the price is cheap (RM1.20 small, RM1.50 big) they don’t really stinge on the ingredients so much that you feel like you are just drinking diluted coconut milk.

Ooo man, the Garlic Cheese Naan was sooo goooood! It felt like I was eating an Indian Pizza, lol. There were plenty of things I loved about this roti. One being that the roti as a whole was somewhat thick but dense, a soft texture. Secondly, there were quite a bit of cheese filling and more than a generous portion of garlic sprinkled on the top. Kayra Restaurant

46, Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 1 Taman Tun Dr Ismail 60000 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Kayra derives its name from keram, which means coconut palm trees in Malayalam, the language indigenous to Kerala and the birth of its name. The inspiration behind Kayra started over 65 years ago with the opening of the first Kerala Restaurant in Johor Bahru in 1949. It was a meeting place for Keralites to connect with their roots, and savour authentic Kerala cuisine. Kayra pays homage to this heritage, and serves recipes handed down through the generations, renowned for its distinct use of coconut – whether grated, roasted, or as a cooking medium. The palate-pampering dishes, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, are freshly prepared and served everyday. Each dish is lovingly crafted and celebrates the true flavours of Kerala. We hope you love it as much as we enjoy sharing it with you.

Murgh Bombay Bohri Briyani, 50 ringgit. This was delicious yawwwwww. The rice was moist and soft + tender bits of chicken scattered all over and contrary to the usual, I did not even need to add gravy in. The moistness and softness + spices and flavor from the briyani rice was just right that there was no need to add on gravy in hopes of adding flavor. No need at all. It is a common occurrence at indian restaurants but not here though. The Butter Chicken was delicious. They filled up a mini bowl to its maximum capacity, with lots of chicken meat in it. The gravy was warm and thick. It had a nice, pleasant taste to it.Besides the chapatis and butter chicken, the set also came with a generous portion of dhal (just how I liked it) – thick and filled with lentils, a cucumber salad, papadum and sweet custard. Fish Briyani, 19 ringgit. This was tastefull too. You would basically get similar ingredients that accompanied the chicken briyani except for the meat, of course. Here, you would get yourself a tender, flavorful fish. Yummy. The only downside to this dish was that compared to the chicken briyani, which came with plenty of gravy, which in turn made the whole dish moist, this dish came with a lack of gravy. This meant that the rice was not moist as briyani rice should be, the rice here was pretty dry. However, worry not. They were more than willing to to provide you with gravy/curry of your choice. With the gravy, this dish was pretty good.
