The ambience of En Sushi is memorable and the food was great. Service was up to the mark and I will definitely like to bring some great company there the next round.
One Japanese restaurant, En Sushi caught y attention due to its promotion during this period.
Each dishes are delicately crafted to bring out the mouthwatering flavours of Japanese food.
I cannot wait for more visits to this little gem - does not help that the service staff are so warm, jovial and...they bring such joy to mundane work days!
The standard of the food is decent, and we enjoy the laidback vibe that the restaurant exudes. Don’t forget to let loose and knock a couple of sake back too! They taste better when paired with the side dishes.
I will be back again for the beef rib ramen!
The mentai salmon don was really nice – the salmon was torched outside and still raw inside, with the umaminess from the mentaiko, and creaminess from what seemed to be mentaiko mayo. The ebi mango maki was I thought a bit of an odd pairing. The mango was sweet, prawn and ebiko savoury, and the mayo creamy, but I didn’t feel that it came together so well.
Whenever a good friend suggests a meetup, I don’t reject. But when I heard it was Fortune Centre, I was a bit hesitant as I had been heading...
We tried a few items that they were known for. Like their mentai salmon don. Not bad.
The place was quiet even though every table was filled, so it was still easy to chat and relax over lunch.
I've heard really good things about the wagyu don here, so I'll be back for it!
Overall, Fat Cow is much better but Sushi Jin is a decent fox for it.
Overall service was good and the food was reasonably priced. I do not mind coming back again.
Service was good, prompt and friendly. Wouldn’t mind popping by for a repeat visit if I’m ever in the area, when eating out is allowed again.
The best part was the gooey yolk that when burst, coated the beef, onions and rice oh so deliciously!
There is really no doubt in how Yama-Ya is possibly one of the most value-for-money Japanese cuisine places in the neighbourhood that it is set in.
Never underestimate Japanese street food, for they can fill you up as well as a bowl of ramen can.
A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
Here's the tofu salad from YAYOI. Those rectangular blocks of tofu definitely are not as good as Ootoya's version, but at least the sesame dressing here wasn't the usual beige Kewpie stuff.
Isshin Machi Taiwan Food Delivery Review - Deliveroo from Holland Village outlet with pictures of menu, beef noodles, Hakka braised rice
Overall, just an average place with so many sushi & sashimi places including the japan food town stalls around.
I must say the breads and pastries here are not cheap compared to other bakeries’.
the food is super delicious, so good that Kappou may make it to the Best 10 Restaurants of 2017.
I would love to visit her again to enjoy my omakase and a conversation over the meal. It is pretty interesting and relaxing to enjoy such close up moments with chef.
Kappou Japanese Sushi Tapas Bar Fortune Centre near Bugis MRT We didn't have any expectations at all when H and I decided to give Kappou -that is helmed by a female chef, a visit; as regrettably, we have it imbued in us that the best Japanese restaurants are usually helmed by males. Utterly wrong...
The rice bowls that we had were not bad, but insufficient to warrant a second visit. However, I’ll make a trip here specially for the Gyocos and a taste of their unique Japanese butter bowls.
Nevertheless, the dishes we had were undoubtedly the beginnings of the must-haves here and would hopefully be signatures to stay.
To be honest, we actually found Kyodai’s food pretty decent — both dishes were actually not too bad especially at that price — their offerings might be appealing to the students in the area, considering the stall’s proximity to Singapore Management University (SMU) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and also the office workers in the area.
You can really feel and taste that everything was done with a lot of attention and care in the chirashi.
At this Barashi Tei Revisit, we still find ourselves loving the food but couldn’t say so for the dessert.
Since it’s just a walk away from Dhoby Ghaut, Little India and Bugis MRT Stations, it’s easy to find myself back here gorging on sashimi and beef!
I visited District Sushi without huge expectations and true enough, the food is decent value but not memorable.
It’s a place to swing by, for sure, because there’s also a range of sashimi, nigiri sushi, and more donburi to taste.
All in all, District Sushi is a hidden gem we would highly recommend to students studying at the campuses nearby or those who are on a budget. Their value-for-money donburis and nigiri sushi sets are definitely worth a try!
Our search for good and affordable eateries led us to this discreet Japanese shop called Ichi Tei, which is located inside Sunshine Plaza. Ichi Tei’s set meals are less than S$14, which makes for a decent lunch or dinner.
With my obsession with Panko, it is a matter of time before I returned again - and with more company!
The other memorable skewer which I enjoyed apart from the shishamo, scallops and foie gras was their shitake mushroom stuffed with chicken with shaven truffle.
We were definitely too stuffed to consider dessert, or dessert just did not tempt on paper.
We had the Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku Don. It was pretty good.
Overall, the donburi here is just amazing. The ingredients are of good quality, fresh and generous. Definitely worth a visit and soaks up the atmosphere. Cheers!!
If you are schooling, working, or always in the area, these other Bencoolen food places make good options as well.
A humble, under-publicised shop of 300 Boru. If you are looking at something more polished, maybe they are still getting a hang of things, but could try if you are in the vicinity.
