In the past, it has been picked by Tan Hsueh Yun, food editor at SPH, as the best tasting Korean Fried Chicken in Singapore from a blind tasting challenge conducted by RazorTV. In this challenge, the editor was asked to try 8 different Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) recipes from 8 different stores in Singapore while she was blindfolded. After describing each of the 8 chicken dish, she was made to choose which one is the BEST, and has picked CHICKEN UP as the Best Korean Fried Chicken! And now, this loved by many Korean chains has arrived onshore at Subang Jaya, to be much nearer to Klang Valley folks here. The chic 3-storey restaurant is located just opposite SS15 Courtyard Mall, making it conveniently accessible and is also near to Subang Jaya newly extended LRT station.

We ordered the The Ultimate Cheese Kingdom (RM 88). This is their flagship dish of Korean fried chicken, tteokbokki and gooey cheese. There are sides of kimchi, short grained rice with seaweed, sweet corn with more cheese and mashed potatoes. The server waits for the cheese to melt then wraps each fried chicken in a cocoon of cheese. It tastes pretty good. The fried chicken is covered in a sweet tomato and gochujang sauce which can be very cloying in large amounts but the savoury cheese cuts through the sweetness well. We both enjoyed it.

Oklah, maybe it was also because we were hungry but the fried rice sure tasted awesome. It looked simple but the flavors were good. My Personal Opinion If meat or Korean BBQ is your thing and you have no qualms about eating and sweating at the same time, then you should definitely consider this place for the price factor (first) and taste (second). There are very few places where you can get a meal of 7 items that's able to feed 4 people sufficiently for around RM150! O_o In fact, three small-eaters (or those on a tight budget) could possibly have a meal for RM20 with just the RM59 set and lots of banchan! ;) As far as I'm concerned, there's very little to distinguish between the taste of these Korean BBQs and unlimited banchan. Perhaps, the slight noticeable difference would be in the marination of the meats (and if you're ordering non-marinated meats, it makes no difference) and maybe the dipping sauce. So, wear as little as possible.....and indulge in a sizzling hot 'affair'! ^_~

Nanda Chicken’s menu is pretty straightforward and Korean fried chicken is the main attraction here. It is available in three categories: with cheese, crispy and special. If you are dining in a small group, ordering could be tricky because most of the portions seem to be made for sharing. The only exception would be the chicken wings, but we were told that it was not available (yet) during our visit. So yeah, tough luck.

This place is popular with moonlighters looking to cure their nighttime hunger pangs. And with them overcoming the short of helper issue, dining in at night is much breezier compared to when they just started their business. Portion is huge and each alacarte chicken serving are good for more than 2 person. Go for the staple fried chicken and ask salad without the chili sauce drizzle. They are perfectly satisfying.

OWL Espresso Cafe is one of the famous bingsu cafe in SS15. After operating in this area for 2 years, they still remain as one of the top hangout place for students when it comes to Korean dessert. To be honest, this is my first time here after hearing so much good things about them.

The Creppe and Bingsu are okay. They also serve some catchy cotton candy.

Overall, this restaurant is highly recommended despite the shabby environment! 👍 Who cares about the environment when the food is good, right?

Last night we visited a unique Korean joint in the Korean community of Ampang in Kuala Lumpur and everything about this place is awesome. It has been in operation for the last 14 years. It does not look like a restaurant from the outside nothing that can entice you to walk into the place, even if you take a peep into it, you might be shock in what you see. It cannot be a restaurant.

It's not your usual Korean restaurant where it's open and you can peek and someone else's table. Expect a very old and shabby looking place, in the middle of no where. If traditional is the best word to describe, then yes it's so traditional that no restaurants in Klang Valley are like theirs. The shop lots are very dark too so I wouldn't recommend you to stay till late unless you're out in a group. You'll get a personal room so remember to book ahead, otherwise you may be disappointed.

Shinmapo is fast becoming my favorite restaurant in The Gardens Mall. Last year, I went there and had Korean BBQ on my birthday and then when my brother was back for his holidays, we went there again! During the last visit, we saw that they do a Happy Hour promotion on weekdays from 3pm-5pm (public holidays excluded), whereby for every 2 plates of meat, you get one FREE! (*from a selected menu) ... That's my kind of Happy Hour for sure!

This place is surprisingly crowded on weekends night. Price is slightly on the high, but you get quality food with good service. Cheese stick is good, seafood pancake good, cheese donkatsu (pork) also good. Next time need to try the cheese pork ribs.

Verdict: Cheese Donkatsu and Citron Pizza were good, the flavors of the stews were just run-of-of-mill which we can simply get at any other Korean restaurant out there.
