My first visit to modern Malaysian restaurant Akâr was deliciously fun. If you’re into exciting new ways to taste local ingredients, this may be right up your alley.
TTDI's d'Cengkih Malay restaurant is definitely a place to be if you are craving for some authentic Johorian cuisines!
Food was goood. I enjoyed the Nasi Dagang with Ikan Tongkol, 12 ringgit. It tasted as it should be, the ‘kuah’ was lovely, fish was awesome, the whole dish was great. I only wished the fish was bigger, lol, that small piece was hardly enough for me
Janji kenyang. Tak sanggup menahan lapar lama lama lagi dah. Overall makanan dia so so je. Tak de apa yang menarik sangat.
Family fav was the Roast Chicken, over mashed potatoes, veggies, and a mushroom gravy. Hearty and tasty. And great value at Rm 18.
Overall review: A nice place to enjoy local favourites in modern cafe interior. Food price considered reasonable. It gets very pack during lunch hour but it didn’t take long for our food to arrive. The part that we love most about Little Rimba, the shop front. Hehe.
Surprisingly, this expensive area can find breakfast below rm$5; its Roti Canai with Idli plus a hard boiled curry egg.
Food was good, slightly pricier but food was good. The Nasi Dagang came with several options : Gulai Ikan Tongkol, Gulai Ayam or Daging. We opted for the Ikan Tongkol. The size of the fish is certainly bigger than most of the other Ikan Tongkol I’ve had elsewhere. Besides the rice and Ikan tongkol, the dish also came with fried egg + pickled vegetables + sambal cili. The gravy was thick, milky, flavorful and slightly sweetish. Overall, a good dish.
12 inch Half & Half Combo, 34 ringgit The combo we went for was the Quattro Formaggi + Spinach, Feta & Chicken. It was yummy. If you love cheese, you’d certainly enjoy Quattro Formaggi because it comes with 4 different cheese – mozzarella, cheddar, blue cheese and gouda. There is also crushed walnuts and a drizzle of honey. Do anticipate different textures and tastes – a lil saltiness, slight bitterness with a dose of sweetness, creamyness, nuttyness
Their Mutton is also equally good and they are usually lean cuts without any bones. Again, the Masala is just amazing and goes so well with the rice. My rating for their Mutton shall be 9/10.
As you can probably tell, we really enjoyed the food and company at Wannah’s. While we prefer the Laksa Johor at Siti Li (not the most authentic but suited our tastebuds), the Kacang Ful and Nasi Tomato here are the best we’ve ever eaten.
For something a bit more unusual than our all-time-favorite Asam Pedas, we savored the King’s Curry Fish Head (RM70.75). The garoupa fish is fresh with a firm and sweet flesh. Paired with the thick and creamy curry well-spiced up, the fish and vegetable is deliciously delectable. The curry was so yummy that I even find myself spooning the gravy and drenching my rice with it.
Verdict: Hits and misses, it was a decent Peranakan meal with most of the dishes we had were brilliantly done and capable to please our palate. Some dishes could be better with minor tweaks. Comfortable dining environment and friendly service. Recommended: Acar Rampai, King’s Curry Fish Head, Ayam Pongteh, Telur Belada, Sambal Fried Paku and Crispy Popiah.
Chicken Rendang (S), 20.66 ringgit. The Chicken Rendang was awesome, really really tasty. I wished it came with more chicken pieces though – 2 pieces of chicken thigh and a drumstick was not enough to be shared between the two of us, lol but boy, was it da bomb! You’d get tender chicken meat, the kind that literally falls of the bone, soaked and packed with flavor. the rendang gravy was thick and packed with flavor. Yummmmm!
Jadi, kuburkan harapan korang unless mereka kembali beroperasi semula nanti.
TTDI Murni Kafe an ideal cafe place for everyone and families! A menu that offers fusion cuisine which contain variety of Malaysian, Malay, Chinese and Western cuisines. It will be an exciting foodie experience at TTDI Murni Kafe. Thanks to Ronald, owner of TTDI Murni Kafe and Racheal, the Founder of Foodilifecious gave me this opportunity to try out at TTDI Murni Kafe Restaurant.
For those with a preference for Malaysian food , the restaurant has local favourites such as Penang Fried Kway Teow , Mee Rebus and many much more . When come to environment , TTDI Murni Kafe gave a comfortable ambience attach in closed glass door with air conditioning . Talk about Decoration , the shop filled with round and rectangle table accompany by real nice chair along . Simple and casual deco on the wall Without any antique spot .
Nasi Kerabu Salted Egg Chicken, 12 ringgit. The Nasi Kerabu was finger lickin’ good. The salted egg chicken was perfectly cooked, meaty and tender on the inside, crunchy and chewy on the outside. I liked that they gave me good amount of the salted egg gravy – which was real tasty, I could have just slurp it all up on its own. Many eateries gives you just enough gravy which often meant it was hardly enough but here, they give you enough. It was buttery, sweet, the curry leaves gave it an added rustic flavor – very nice. On top of that, just in case the salted egg gravy wasn’t enough, they also provide you with a bit of ‘Perchik’ sauce. This too was yummy, it was thick and flavorful but yea, I was soo into the salted egg gravy that this was more like an afterthought, lol. Just mixing everything up and eating it was utterly satisfying.
Overall, the experience at Dua By Skohns was positive. There is no GST or service charge so do leave a tip if you are happy with your experience. I personally love the food, thought the service could be improved and had no issues with the ambiance. My spot is always by the window out at the non-air conditioned area. Quiet and comfortable, it is nice to hang out here and enjoy my favourite local dishes while getting some work done.
So we went to another eatery that serves steamed rice when when we found this one to be closed. I remember reading a post on "Eat What Eat Where"'s blog about this eatery called "Kukus Stim Habis" that is located in TTDI which is nearby Damansara Utama so we went there.
Overall, the nasi lemak hits the right spot if you're looking to feed on the quintessential nasi lemak platter with homemade flavours and all the works in a pleasant environment. I would certainly like to return to try some of the other rice platters.
Fried Maggi 5.50 ringgit This was your usual ‘mamak’ style fried Maggie. I’ve got no complaints about this dish. It was tasty and yummy.
Restoran Daging Salai is definitely another good spot for some traditional Malay street foods breakfast.
