面有咸辣,微香甜,淡碱古早味。调味微微的,象我小时候幼儿园旁吃的云吞面。我竟然最先把面给刻完,而没把云吞吃完。
This is the most popular stall at this little hawker centre frequented mostly by folks who live nearby.
If you decide to visit 453 AMK Wanton Mee, I would recommend giving the Prawn Dumpling Noodles a try!
The curry noodles came in a thick, layered and fragrant curry, which was really balanced in its sweetness, savouriness, curry spices and lemak, and had a good spicy punch as well. The curry was very drinkable without being cloying, and was the key to this nice and popular dish. The sio bak was not bad with a crispy rind, the char siew was sweet and thick, and the shredded chicken was serviceable. A nice hearty and flavourful curry mee that I will go back for.
Between the two, I have to say I’m more in favour of the Signature Ipoh Curry Noodle with its ensemble of ingredients but I did enjoy the thickness of the dry version’s roux. Jian Zao Ipoh Curry Noodle definitely has one of the best curry chicken noodles in Singapore!
The noodles and fishballs were both quite generic though competent, although the supposedly handmade fishballs were really quite big, bouncy, and had a good fish flavour.
Recommended by Miss Tam Chiak. Qq springy thin noodles. Nostalgic oyster ketchup chilli sauce, with ordinary paper thin char siew. The wantons were quite meaty with silky skin. Slightly above average due to the noodles and the wantons, with a five person queue.
Old but always gold, Hock Kee Wanton Mee has been serving wanton mee since 1965. Love their springy egg noodles!
The broth of the pork ribs prawn noodles was really not bad, full-bodied and rounded, with the flavours of seafood and pork ribs, and tasting really like a thick savoury sweet seafood soup rather than prawn soup.
I would just skip their signature and just go for a bowl of their no frills, regular Prawn Noodles to satisfy my cravings. They are generous with their portions, so come hungry!
The Laksa tasted just like any of those available at any hawker stalls that are serving this dish. The gravy was light and kind of diluted with little coconut taste, it did not taste too spicy.
