Da Shi Jia Big Prawn Mee 大食家大大大虾面, one of the listing under Michelin Bib
A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
Portions were a little small. Prices were a little high.
I Want My Noodle is also offering islandwide delivery (free delivery for orders S$80 and above and you can order it through their website.
Overall, the freshly made egg noodle here is definitely a winner.
There was a bowl of truffle noodles on the menu. The flavour was tired and those truffle oil that they used tasted especially artificial.
Of the old Bukit Purmei Lor Mee heritage. The braising sauce was really thick, deep and flavourful here, with tones of pork ribs and five spice powder and slightly sweet. I really liked the fried meatballs or ngoh hiong here, lending a nice textural and meaty touch to the lor mee and not really available elsewhere nowadays. Nice lor mee.
The third generation are working hard to preserve Uncle Teo's legacy. Let us give them a little support and compliments to keep them going so we could continue to have a superb bowl of heritage lor mee for generations to come.
Overall, this is an above average bowl of lor mee but sadly, it did not manage to meet the standards of the predecessor.
At least the dumpling was decent, big in size and had a crunchy bite. The star of the dish was really the noodles with the special sauce. Not too sure that it is worth the $5 price tag.
The dumplings, I must admit is one of the best I have had with any Wanton Mee.
A resounding yes. Some may dispute if it is worthy of the long wait, but at least for me, the wanton noodles is a taste I am fond of.
lemon grass beef skewers excellent too. crab soup a bit like bun rieu so so for me.
Pho bo tai was pretty good too. I thought the broth was a good balance between the beefy savoury and sweetness.
22 reviews of Mrs Pho "Their pho is goooood. The place is tiny industrial-cool, dim in a hip kind of way, and that kind of squished that makes you feel real cozy with your companions and all the people a table over. Food was really quite…
The Sarawak Noodle is tossed in a sweet sauce with sweet-coated char siew meat. Noodles were springy and cradle a hint of aroma used from its condiments.
The curly egg noodle actually reminded me of instant noodle. I love how springy and chewy the texture is. The best thing is it does not have any alkali smell.
Found myself at Taman Jurong Hawker Centre. It’s a place I almost never go because it’s not in my circle of places I wind up at without an extra trip. Wanted to go for the Lor Mee, but it was close…
The Signature Noodles had a strong Japanese soy sauce and miso flavour, with some sweetness. The egg and sauce made the noodles smooth, rich and satisfying. The meatballs were fresh and bouncy, and there was also fishballs and Japanese cha shu. Not a bad one.
The signature noodle is served with a sous vide egg and their signature braised pork roulade, on top of the usual minced meat, pig's liver, meat ball and fish ball found in a traditional bowl of bak chor mee (okay, maybe not the fish ball).
If you’re in the area and looking for a classic or interesting bowl of Bak Chor Mee, 51 Noodle House is the place to be!
Fatty Ipoh Noodles Spawned just last May within Pasir Panjang Food Centre, rather new kid on the block Fatty Ipoh Noodles (a poky ...
This hor fun presented an interesting contrast in textures not seen elsewhere with the crispy hor fun on top. The generous pork lard was very crispy and fragrant, and the sauce was really smooth and eggy. The accompanying ingredients – fishcake, sliced pork, sliced fish and chicken prawns – were ok and quite competent. Overall quite nice – comfort food I will go back for.
Fatty Ipoh Fried Noodles is a definite hidden gem in Pasir Panjang. Most of their dishes are priced at $5, making it an absolute steal! Read more.
Apart from the flavorful broth, the noodles themselves are a testament to No. 25's culinary expertise. They were perfectly cooked, retaining just the right amount of bite. The sauce that enveloped them was a harmonious blend of the broth's essence, vinegar for a touch of tanginess, soy sauce for depth, and lard for an indulgent richness. This combination resulted in a symphony of savory flavors that left me craving for more.
The pork slices and pork liver in the soup were quite meagre although well cooked and fresh, but the her keow was gummy and flavourful and the fish maw added variation. The noodles was good too, cooked just nice, and flavourful with nicely crispy pork lard and tee poh. Something I will come back specially for.
What sets No. 25 Minced Meat Noodles is the tantalising bowl of soup. Cooked for almost 10 hours, the soup could be a dish on its own!
The soup was really nice, savoury, umami and slightly peppery and smoky, yet refreshing with seafood and pork flavours. The meatballs and minced meat were tender and fresh with a slight peppery flavour. The cabbage was crisp and clam or lala qq, and the bee hoon was soft while retaining bite. Good stuff.
Chef Darwin Wong’s Cheeky Bee Hoon in Katong is a humble eatery with delectable comfort food at pocket-friendly prices.
Overall, Cheeky Bee Hoon offers a good option in Katong for a casual meal with their handmade beehoon dishes. Prices are affordable where the dishes are generally quite good.
Enjoy local heritage food and Hong Kong’s UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage delights under one roof.
I’d recommend dunking the crispy crackers into the soup to soften it up and dipping the white fish rolls into the spicy-sweet sauce.
Quite meaty and fresh tasting, with only the slightest alkaline taste. Lacked a bit of the spicy and garlicky kick, but the freshness made up for it.
Gravy was sufficiently thick and creamy, packed with fragrance. Flavour was good and decent. What a comforting bowl of local flavour!

After reading so many reviews about Hup Hup, I decided to order their mee siam for my mum when my group buy offered Hup Hup for lunch. A familiar name in many online foodie’s list as top 10 m…
面有咸辣,微香甜,淡碱古早味。调味微微的,象我小时候幼儿园旁吃的云吞面。我竟然最先把面给刻完,而没把云吞吃完。
This is the most popular stall at this little hawker centre frequented mostly by folks who live nearby.
If you decide to visit 453 AMK Wanton Mee, I would recommend giving the Prawn Dumpling Noodles a try!
Nestled within the Ubi DMQ Eating House and operated by the coffee shop owner, DMQ Ban Mian has captured the hearts and taste buds of their offerings.
Overall, I have to say DMQ noodles is really a gem found and their noodles can easily be one of the best ban mian I have eaten and I would say it is even better than Qiu Lian.
The never-ending orders, even during non-peak hours, shows just how tasty his noodles are!
Ng Kuan Chilli Pan Mee 伍坤辣椒板面 stands out as a beacon for supper seekers and spice enthusiasts alike.
Very nice and tasty with layers of flavours and textures from the juicy minced pork, ikan billis, fried shallots, garlic and a runny egg.
The Yaowarat folks have a small chain of Malaysian ban mian shops called Ng Kuan, and I stopped by an outlet for a late night top-up.
One Mouth Noodle offers a small menu of four noodle dishes: Hong Kong-style wanton noodle ($4.50), char siew wanton noodle ($4.50), Hong Kong-style dumpling noodle ($4.50) and Hong Kong-style beef brisket noodle ($5.50).
The handmade noodles were incredibly good; al-dente and light without the alkaline taste that some of my friends dislike! I can't finish it in one mouth as i would like to take my time to slowly savour it!
For a wanton noodle stall that makes their own char siew and noodle, $4.50 is a fair price to pay and I am glad the young towkay is keeping traditions alive.
This is still one of the better choices for Lor Mee, my kind of comfort food.
A great alternative to the OAR stall where the waiting time is considerably shorter. Prices are slightly higher for this casual restaurant as compared to the hawker stall, with a pleasant air-conditioned dining environment which I am not complaining.
It’s almost no surprise given its Michelin plate accolade as well as storied history—it being run by a second-generation owner who started assisting in running the business since he was 13 years old.
I like their house made sambal chili sauce as it has a sharp hot sting and there was plenty of lard which gave the sauce a distinct lardy flavour and some sweetness.
In a nutshell, if you’re feeling nostalgic and want an old school bowl of prawn noodles, do check out No Name Prawn Mee!
When it comes to which prawn mee is the best in Singapore, I’m sure we’re all ready to “throw hands” at anyone who dares contend against our favourite. Nowadays, it’s not uncommon for a bowl of prawn mee to cost a hefty S$8 or more. The fault lies in the novelty of jumbo prawns — people don’t […]
A flavourful bowl of traditional Bak Chor Mee that comes with Vinegar and Chilli as the base sauce.
One of the nicest bak chor mee around, with springy noodles, strong meaty mushroomy flavour, qq fishcake, fresh pork, liver, braised mushrooms and other ingredients. 百吃不厌.
Macpherson Minced Meat Noodles 麦波申拿手肉脞面 In Bukit Batok
The wanton mee was so so though. The noodles were springy, but the sauce was quite bland. The char siew was papery, and the wanton and dumplings had quite thick skin with an overwhelming mouthfeel and average fillings. Not quite worth the queue.
I have not tried their mushroom noodle as well as chicken feet noodle, thus I will be back again for more!
