Second try – do I like it? No, I don’t .. I still find it just a gimmick.
I would say Lou Ma Zi is a heaven for winter melon fans! It's much more healthier compare to normal steamboat. Price considered as slighly expensive as the food portion was too little and you have to add on some meat, vege and side to fill up stomach, It would be costly if you are big eater or meat lover.
My parents favourite spot for steamboat, especially my dad. RM 21 for 1 person size, but 4 person could order 3 portions. Fresh ingredients and good value.
My family's favourite steamboat.
Overall, it's just another normal seafood steamboat restaurant. No doubt the foods are fresh. Environment wise, not that usual crowded place.
The noodles are soft and silky, but the winner is the soup. Chock full of ingredients, you get generous portions of pork belly slices, pork mushroom balls, offal (intestines, kidney, liver), tender minced pork, squid and shrimp, all swimming in a cloudy broth that is bursting with flavour. To top it all off: a smattering of deep fried pork lard, which really adds extra flavour to the soup.
They definitely aren’t stingy on ingredients. The shrimp was huge! And fresh as well. Although the price is RM14++, I think it’s quite worth it. The dining area is air conditioned and comfortable.
The bill came up to RM 72 not inclusive of drinks. It's not cheap but you do get pretty good service and who doesn't like to eat steamboat in an enclosed air conditioned space without smelling food in the air?
Restaurant Shabu Shabu 强强滚 is a eat all you can type of shabu shabu restaurant at Bandar Puteri, Puchong. Shabu Shabu is actually a Japanese dish whereby sliced beef are cooked in a pot of boiling soup on the dining table, just like Chinese’s hot pot / steamboat. Chinese steamboat restaurant normally give only one …
It is famous for its slices of pork served by waitress and waiter when you ask for it (depending how many plates you want).
How much for the buffet? RM26.50, the old price a few months ago was RM25 though. If you are a big eater and can afford to wait for the sliced pork and prawns, RM26.50 should be a good deal. The only major complaint I have is only about the dilly-dally attitude/tactic.
Personally loves the Pork Belly which has the extra porky flavour and tastes exactly like a crispy bacon while grilling for an extended period of time.
Overall, I can’t complain about the food given the reasonable price tag but I feel food was very mediocre and service, below normal standards. We paid approximately RM55 per head inclusive of a bottle of beer and two plates of bak kwa. Not expensive, but definitely not a place I would brave traffic and distance for.
Our meal for two came up to about RM60+. I wouldn’t call it super value for money, but our bellies were filled, the food was tasty, and it was still cheaper than a buffet, without the wastage
We came here for the lamb noodles, which is pretty good. Shui Cheng Mutton Noodle (RM 13.90) is mixing clear soup with spicy broth, and thin slices of non fatty meat. The broth tastes nice, not..
Premium Lamb Slices (肥羊卷) RM28.00 comes in a large portion and generous wide cut (seriously can fill the whole mouth with one slice), tastes succulent fresh and non-gamy after dipping into Ma La Hotpot. This AAA lamb slices quality is on par with Ding’s Emperor and truly is a die-hard reason that we will pay more visits in the future!
The meat on the large pork bone was so tender after having been cooked for so long, it literally flaked off.
Coco Steamboat
Being one of the pioneer steamboat restaurants in town, Coco Steamboat had recently opened their largest outlet at Scott Garden, Old Klang Road. With the 22,600 square feet restaurant, now one can enjoy the delicious steamboat in air conditioned and also ample of parking space.
On our visit, we tried out their rich and creamy Signature Pork Bone Broth with Zhu Er Ge Pork Set plus a variety of ingredients such as fresh sliced fish, homemade cuttlefish, Popo's squid ball, Popo's stuffed ginger pork ball, Popo's prawn ball, shimeji mushroom, tong ho, shrimp dumplings, fried fish curd, tofu and many more.
It's truly a lovely steamboat and BBQ dining experience.
Obviously, we do not miss the premium lamb, abalone slice and smoked duck. we are drooling when see the premium meat and abalone which is the signature ingredients in Pak John Steamboat & BBQ.
We ordered their fresh prawns which served with the generous portion and they are complete with the seafood sweetness with it.
Dian Huo Xin Wo is one of my favorite place to dine when it comes to steamboat. Located at Kelana Jaya, DHXW serves the hotpot dishes filled with love.
The DHXW CNY 2018 Dinner Package set priced at RM688 for 6 to 8 persons includes : 1 x Yee Sang 1 x DHXWCrustaceans Roe Soup 8 x Abalone 8 x Tiger Prawns 8 x Sea Scallops 8 x Big Prawns 8 x Squid Balls 8 x Pacific Clams 2 x Crabs 2 x Fresh Pomfret Fish 1 x Vegetable
For my family of five, we usually opt for the value-for-money set option at RM 39.80 for two pax by having 2 sets of it which is good sharing portion for 5 of us. The set comes with prawns, meatballs, fish balls, fish fillets, tofu, vegetables, dumplings, a variety of bean curd products, eggs and noodles.
The thinly sliced Pork Belly (RM18.80), Meat Ball with Minced Pork (RM6) and QQ Tofu (RM6) are great additions. No matter what's in your pot, be sure to lay on the potent homemade chili sauce! Avg price per person: RM35
The food taste at Two Pesos is remarkably good.
It was quite a let down in terms of quality but they wins in presentation and price (to many peoples perception). It is for you to judge as they have customers who like and they have customers who do not like yet they do enjoy long queue every day.
Two Pesos BBQ Pot Introducing the new hot pot in Two Pesos which is Two Pesos BBQ Pot. Some people might like to have 2 in 1 style and I guess this will be your best choice. Two Pesos provide you with the best experience of BBQ and steamboat all together tag along with Two Pesos bestselling chicken soup. It is served with hand sliced meat with strict selection of meat. Barbeque it with their special barbecue sauce and cooked it to the perfection. It is good to eat it with a bowl of rice. This BBQ pot will definitely make you full of happiness.
The 碟头饭 Diap Tao Fan" comes with Day soup of 菜乾枸杞豬骨湯 Dried vegetables, wolfberries, pork bone soup with a variety of rice based Main dish choice. My choice of the main was 滑蛋梅子鸡饭 Plum sauce Chicken rice w/Egg. The lunch was positive. But, 小捞王火锅 Xiao Lao Wang Hotpot is obviously a Hotpot restaurant established in 2013 with its first operation in Sungai Buloh; later moved to Damansara Uptown and then move again to the present location PJ's Jaya One. There is also one opened recently in USJ Damen where it works with LamMeeYa in a single premise offering Noodles, Xiao Chao, and Hotpot.
The limelight of the meal was definitely the Curry Fish Head (RM58 small, RM98 medium, RM128 large). Filled to the brim and loaded with big chunks of meaty fish head drenched in thick curry gravy, the dish warrants orders of piping hot steamed rice.
Made fresh to order. That's the promise Xiao Lao Wang makes when you order its new house speciality of Curry Fish Head (RM58 small, RM98 medium, RM128 large). A substantial pot of rich, aromatic curry filled with chunks of meaty fish head, tender okra, thick fingerlings of eggplant and sliced cabbage, it is a sublime serving everyone can relish with gusto. Co-owner Pamela Jan assures us this delectable curry is cooked to order, to ensure its uncomprising taste quality.
Pork Bone Soup For PORK BONE lover, for sure you need to try the flavorful and refreshing Non-MSG PORK BONE SOUP. The owner has been trying out more than 5 trials just to get the perfect taste for all of you
The meat and meatball here is fresh - the meatballs for order are still soft and chilled, they somehow manage not to freeze anything. My favorite chilled item is the homemade shrimp dumpling and the tau foo pok.
Among all, the beef meatball, pork meatball and prawn dumpling were our favorites. And of course there’s a buffet section where the vegetables and other common steamboat ingredients are laid out.
Hai Di Lao, the most famous hotpot restaurant from China is now also in Malaysia. Take a look at my take.Website: http://kyspeaks.com
Apron, hair tie, sleeves cover and plastic cover for phone were provided! I look like an actual ah sam (aunty) here 🤣
The restaurant isn't that expensive at all. We have ordered a lot of food and only RM350. The services weren't that polished in comparison to Singapore or china, but provided that they are still new, I think the services will improve in the future.
But i'm telling you, it's the most delicious ice cream i've ever eaten in my life ! SO FREAKING DELICIOUS ! Two tumbs up for their ICE CREAM ! hahahaha.. It was so good that Daniel actually went for 4 rounds of ice cream.. hahaha. XD
You always find a queue at Suki-ya but that does not necessarily mean it's good, it could mean it's affordably priced. In this case, the buffet at Suki-ya is indeed just that....value-for-money! You can get your money's worth by just consuming a couple plates of the beef (which is the only good thing here in my opinion). But then again, you can probably get a decent Chinese steamboat at around the same price...and with seafood thrown in!
There was a very long queue that continued to the outside of the restaurant. People must really love the food. But, it was great. I really enjoyed the buffet. It was very satisfying.
I have always known that Harbour Steamboat is one of the best steamboat restaurants in KL. But it’s only recently that we finally managed to eat here. Believe it or not, our prior two prior visits back in 2013 and 2015 resulted in us walking away because the restaurant was full house. The waiting line was so long that it filled the entire five foot way. So if you plan to eat here, reservation is recommended especially if it’s a weekend. Either that, or come as early as possible.
Overall, we spent RM110+ for the dinner and 3 of us were almost BOOM!! Really Full very full! Highly recommended people! Give a try!
The ingredients were fresh. The seafood cheese tofu was my favourite, and the fish items like the fishballs were good too; had a nice bouncy bite to them. Soup base was decent – I think they taste pretty standard at most hotpot places.
Nothing could go wrong, right? I mean it's just soup and uncooked food. How difficult is that? Ho Kee didn't fare badly actually. The seafood was fresh and portion was substantial. The issue was with the soup. Specifically, the flavor. It was just too fishy for my liking and marred everything else. If you like Pulau Ketam style, this would be a treat for you. Otherwise, steer clear.
If you order 1 person only they set dishes cost you MYR18.90, 2 people and above is MYR16.90. Ala carte add on is about MYR6.50 - MYR16 (Regular size) Of course not included seafood, seafood is count per gram.
