Pad Thai, 11.90 ringgit. Now this dish, was da bomb. Delicious. You’d get a plate of sticky, gooey noodles + peanut crumbs + pork meat + tauhu + bean sprouts, mix it all up and yummmmmm!! Of course, add in some chili oil into the mix and it even gets much better. This is worth every penny.

The Porki Society is a Thai restaurant in Sea Park just minutes’ drive away from SS2. They made waves with their boat noodles a couple of years ago when those were still considered the must try food in Klang Valley. Now, The Porki Society is perhaps better well known for their affordable and well executed Thai pork dishes, which I have to say are deserving of their reputation

Due out of curiosity, we also did order a set of Tuk Tuk Laksa RM10.80 – serving with a bowl of laksa broth, spice leaves, bean sprouts, salted vegetables, and rice vermicelli. The result was surprising “Aroi Mak Mak Mak” (very very very delicious), once you dipped the rice vermicelli into the laksa broth and start chowing, next thing you can savor is the rich mellow goodness of coconut milk that directly overcomes with a fine scent of dried shrimps, lemongrass and various spices. We regard it as a delectable “Thai” laksa at its best, definitely worth our personal two thumbs up! 😉

Khanom chin, or khanom jeen is a type of thin rice noodle that resembles a thicker version of rice vermicelli. The texture is somewhat different though, as it tastes smoother and bouncier, kind of similar to laksa noodle. Because of that, khanom jeen is simply referred to as Thai Laksa in some northern states of Malaysia such as Penang and Kelantan. Among the many Thai restaurants in Klang Valley, Baan Kanom Jeen is probably the only one that specializes in khanom chin.

Pla Neung Manao, 62 ringgit. This was one of their popular/recommended dishes. It was delicious. The fish was fresh, cooked/steamed well. I loved the tom yum gravy that accompanied the fish, it was thicker than the usual tom yum soup I usually taste around here, which was great, it was spicy with a tinge of sweetness to it. Delicious. myELEPHANT™'s story began from the love of simple good food. The three founding Elephant Mahouts recruited the help of a talented Thai chef, and opened a full menu, authentic Thai restaurant in 2007. Over the years, residents, visitors and those just passing through increased in number. What started as a shared passion for good Thai food has blossomed into five much loved neighbourhood restaurants. Many come to taste our timeless signature dishes such as the Tom Som, Snow Fish, Gai Tod and home-made Tod Man Plah. Complimenting the perfectly balanced meals of spicy, sweet, sour and salty are the ever popular drinks, Pandan Cooler and Green Aroma. However, the real fans crave for the creamy green curry served with Thai eggplants, asparagus bean and a choice of meat. myELEPHANT™’s story continues, but one part of our journey remains constant; authentic recipes, quality ingredients, quick service and a warm welcome is what diners will find at our restaurants.

However, surprisingly their ala-carte dishes such as the chicken and the soup are extremely good. It seems like they have two chefs preparing ala-carte order and lunch set meals. Otherwise, I cannot understand why the quality of the taste can this big contrast.

The full address of the place is L27, Block L Taipan Damansara 2, Jalan PJU 1A/1, Ara Damansara, PJ. The place was so isolated and quiet that I wondered why anyone would want set up a restaurant here. Inside, we were the only other customers.

Each bowl of noodles is affordably priced at MYR 1.99 and comes decently with dried ‘wantan’ skin, meatball or chicken slices, depending on your chosen menu. You could always mix and match the type of noodle and soup base that your prefer.

Thai Hot Pot “Jim Jum” จิ้มจุ่ม แจ่วฮ้อน It’s hot pot time! Most Asian countries have their own style of hot pot, and just in Thailand alone there are a few different types! “Jim jum” (also called jeaw hon in Isaan dialect) is the style of hot pot from the Northeast of Thailand that uses simple, staple ingredients in the Thai pantry. It’s easy to make and SO incredibly yummy!!!

The seafood tomyam (RM18 – small, RM35 – large) here is pretty good; thick, creamy and fiery with a generous amount of seafood. Don’t be fooled by its creamy appearance, as this tomyam makes sweat trickle down your head and back. Apparently, I turned bright red after two bowls so butter tongues beware.

I went for the grilled pork skewers (three pieces – RM10) and spicy sausage. Both were really tasty and great with rice. The sausage had a strong flavour of lemongrass and sported a chewy casing that contrasted nicely with the mushiness of the mashed meat on the inside. Pork skewers were grilled and basted to sweet perfection, smoky, tender and juicy. Meat lovers will really enjoy this – I certainly did 😀

Fried Basil Leave with Pork (RM 10), Pork Leg with Rice (RM 10), as well as Noodle in Thickened Soup (RM 7) not only looks terrific but decently portioned as well. Add on the BBQ stuff. Grilled Pork Neck (RM 4) was delicious tender and juicy and best to go with some beer.
