It was an underwhelming experience, to put it mildly. So The Great Angmoh was not so great after all.
I might come back from time to time because the coffee here is amazing.
Starting our meal with one of the dish in All Day Breakfast : Pulled Duck Benedict @ RM 29. Slow – cooked Braised Duck Toasted Broiche Organic Poached Egg, Chipotle Hollandaise, Crispy Duck Bits.
I ordered my meal from the Light Bites section and the most suitable item was Chicken Karaage. It's not exactly ideal though since fried chicken is always coated with flour. The chicken was fried to perfection, the batter was light and crispy and the chicken was moist and flavorful. The crispy fried kaffir lime leaves added another dimension to the flavor and aroma.
At first mum thought of having The Really Big Breakfast that she always sees on my blog. But she changed her mind because it was late in the day and she wanted to make sure that she had stomach space for dinner. So mum copied my order and had the Grilled Chicken Salad.
I went to The Red Kettle and had the Pomegranate Smoked Salmon Salad. It was a very pretty salad, so colorful! This salad contains smoked salmon, pomegranate, quinoa, avocado, chickpeas, lava egg, pickled blueberries, almonds, chia seeds, orange, grilled broccoli, mesclun greens and ponzu dressing. I also noted ulam raja leaves. The ponzu dressing - very sorry, I did not like it. It was so so sweet. So I used very little of it. And the smoked salmon was very very salty, even when eaten with the other ingredients. So no more of this salad for me, I will stick to the Grilled Chicken Salad.
The edge of the steak contained gristle but other than that the steak was very tender. However I suspect the oil used to cook the steak was not fresh. It had a smell. The Ship cannot claim that they serve the "Best Steaks in Town". Not anymore anyway. Sorry guys. I doubt if I will be back.
Nice meaty meal for carnivorous me. But in all honesty, the best thing on my plate was the fried egg and chicken. The beef and lamb were overcooked and tough/dry.
The Bombay Steak was just alright. It was described as "Grilled fillet steak garnished with chopped fresh chili and mango chutney gravy sauce, served with french fries and vegetables". I thought that the sauce tasted like it was made with tomato and chili sauce. I did not detect the mango chutney at all.
A Day in KL - Brader John Burger Uptown Damansara with James Day
I ordered Chicken Burger (70gram) with 2 Cheese and it cost me RM 7.50. The burger was superb. It was well seasoned and the sauce is simply delicious. In my opinion, it deserves the waiting time but probably during my next visit, I will just call up to order the burger and collect it later once its done so that I dont have wait long in the queue
Are you willing to brave the traffic, get in line and hold your hunger for an hour for a Ramly burger? That’s a question you need to ask yourself before going to Brother John‘s burger stall because that’s the exact situation I went through. Even though I had been to Damansara Uptown quite a few times myself, it was only ... Read More
I did request for the mushroom sauce to be served separately but the kitchen did not fulfil my request. But all was forgiven because the chicken chop was very tender and juicy and the sauce was very tasty.
I wish Cafe La Fayette all the best and though the food may not be as vibrant (in taste) as the ambiance (in my opinion of course), I bet they will have no trouble attracting customers who are into the trend of hanging out at cool looking eateries.
Mushroom Risotto was damn good that my bf finish everything in the plate. His all-time favorite in café Lafayette. Mushroom Risotto @ RM 15
S and V both had the Nasi Lemak Roast Pork. It came served with a crispy fried cracker atop a bed of fragrant coconut rice, a side of roast pork, fried egg with luncheon meat, peanuts, anchovies and sambal. The portion is right for ladies, but V had to get another bowl of rice. Tried a piece of the pork – it had nice crackly skin and a good balance of lean and fat.
We enjoyed the Vin de Pork (RM36) – grilled pork shoulder served with red wine sauce, mash potato and salad. The grilled pork was well-seasoned and tender.
Set lunch: pasta, black coffee and one scoop of ice cream at MYR 19+ (10% service charge = MYR 21.90 nett). Close up: Carbonara pasta with salmon and scallops. The sauce is creamy and on the sweet side. I kept half of the pasta for my friend because I don't want to eat so much creamy sauce in one day.
Fancy place for pork ribs. The sausages are probably too small, Nasi Kerabu Babi is quite nice, BBQ ribs are the full of spices type. Food is nice, probably unique, but not one of the best.
All in all, I had a very pleasant experience at Hungry Bacon and was suitably stuffed. Burp!
Their signature is the Pork Shoulder (RM30) – brined for 48 hours – that came with mashed truffle potatoes, and rightly so, as it was tender, succulent and seasoned to perfection, protein at its best.
This is the Indian Chicken Vindaloo served with rice. The presentation is stiff and clinical (not that I am judging, what is important is the taste). The curry did not impress. It just tasted heavy on the spices. The rice was stodgy and I could not finish it.
Mutton Sub-Monster (RM32) – scrumptious mutton varuval with red onion, tomato, and fresh lettuce slathered with mint-mayo on a slab of crusty French baguette proved another winner in our books.
For simplicity done well, check out Ground in Damansara Utama. We enjoyed Ground’s Grilled Chicken Chop and Aglio Olio – simple, honest comfort food to satisfy the soul.
Aside from the cafe’s annoying insistence that everything has to be done through our phones, we had an excellent meal at Pastel. The dishes are quite cheap compared to what we’re used to. Several items on the menu look great, so there’s a good chance we’ll come back.
Mutton Masala Fried Rice (RM19.90) For those who are looking for some kick of umph and spiciness, grab this deliciously prepared Mutton Masala Fried Rice. The fried rice is well stir-fried till perfection leaving you with the moist and fluffy texture. And for the mutton, it remains in tender texture with no gammy taste in it.
Mutton Masala Fried Rice (RM19.90), Mutton Masala tossed with vegetables, egg and rice served with rice crackers. Superb!!
This chicken burger, magnificent looking as it is, did not resonate positively for me. But don't take my word for it, ok? You have to try it for yourself to decide.
"All you can eat" salad bar, bottomless soup and dessert with one's chosen fixed main meal at MYR 19 nett - good value for money - so we decided to eat at this eatery.
Nicsmann 1940s By Lewre introduces a delectable selection of treats both sweet and savoury with English premium tea for 2 pax, with RM85 only! The Hi-Tea On The Park is available from 2pm to 5pm daily.
My one favorite of bites is Potato Skin Stuffed with Crumble Chicken. Once I bite this, I love this taste because of the perfect combination and sauce. So delicious! Besides that, my good friend and I taste the mushroom soup which is totally special as it has several ingredients to mix together especially egg yolk added into its mushroom
The most famous item in the menu is the Wessy Waffle Burger (RM28.90) which comes with a combination of sweet and savoury ingredients, namely beef patties, beef bacons, sunny side egg, lettuce, tomato slices. Lastly, the burger was loaded with peanut butter and jam. One of the key items that Frisson emphasises is that you will be able to taste the quality of their Australian beef patty when you take your first bite into their burger, which is fresh and never frozen. The main flavours of this dish certainly comes from the peanut butter which was thick and creamy but did not overpower the quality of the beef or other ingredients too much.
Though my dining experience here wasn't what I had hoped for (sorry, friend), the food would probably suit some palates....just not mine! For me, the dishes I did try were just so-so...average at best. Maybe I should have ordered their more popular dishes like the Donut Ringmaster Burger @ RM25.90 or the Wessy Waffle Burger @ RM26.90 (pics of dripping cheese, peanut butter and jelly might be a turn on for some, not me). Or maybe they're better at desserts (they offer quite a few) like the P.TripleB French Toast @ RM19.90 with bacon and banana served with rich vanilla custard, peanut butter and honey (just those last 3 words are enough to send me into a diabetic coma!). I wouldn't be able to confirm if they fare better at desserts since I didn't try any. Compounded by the higher than norm prices that weren't matched by the taste, I'm afraid I don't see myself returning (after this maiden visit) as the food just didn't excite my senses enough! Even if I had wanted to return (to try more stuff and give them a second chance), it would be a monumental task to drag my family here since they weren't impressed! :(
Frisson Coffee Bar is another cafe located at Damansara Uptown. They serve the best breakfast, lunch, dinner and cakes!! Of course coffee too!! Amazing food in a cozy ambience.
Verdict: The cafe has got all my checkmarks of a great place to dine in terms of food and service. There are a few dishes in the menu that I wish to try out such as Conchiglie in Spinach Cream & Pulled Pork Sandwich that highly recommended by others. Wait for me, I’ll come to you soon!
Epicuro serves some brunch items too at very decent prices (the Big Breakfast is only RM21.90). Their coffee and tea list aint shabby either.
Starting from the first dish till the very end dessert, none disappoint. In fact, it all impressed
The restaurant is decorated with nature theme drawings on its walls with cosy seating areas.
Ever get fed up with the chic coffee and dessert cafes that seem to focus more on their "hipster" decor, only to then be let down by their lacklustre food with bite-sized portions? The Embassy Café, which is located in the new shopping mall, The Starling Mall in the vicinity of bustling Damansara Uptown neighbourhood, prides itself in serving hearty portions, all-day dining and freshly brewed coffees/teas.

Salmon Otak Otak with Daun Kaduk (Wild Pepper Leaf) at MYR 8.50+ (MYR 9.01 nett). It does not look nice but it is a little spicy and very tasty.
Sit back and enjoy a piece of tropical paradise over this long weekend with our coconut-based drinks
Affordable priced food, good ambiance and I’ll come back again for more tummy and soul comfort food or perhaps solely for the desserts.
We've been longing to try out the baos and rice bowl from Buncit Bao Bar, so we decided to make it as our date venue.
Overall Rating: 7/10. Love the baos but not a fan of the cafe settings.
A place for Bacon Lover , Bacon & Brews offers a Western-Asian theme to all their meals . a cafe that serve all their food with bacon bites . Bacon themed cafe , with food ranging from Kimchi fried rice to Bacon carbonara and Bacon cheesecake . The cafe itself is quite a relaxing with warm white lighting making the ambiance a cozy .
The Bacon and Brews at Damansara Uptown is the place for bacon lovers to enjoy a dining experience of incomparable creativity and effort. The Bacon and Brews desserts are considerably the cafe flagship. Ordering it could be a little tedious knowing it is going to be a huge sharing portion. Step one is to decide between the crispy waffle (3pcs), liege Belgium Waffle (3pcs), and what we have chosen here, the Shibuya Honey Toast. (Yes, this is the period of the time where I crave honey toast very much.) Step 2 isn’t easy too, but I saved all the trouble doing any thinking at all and went for the Signature Maple Bacon and Rum soak raisin. It said this is a must try serving of house made rum and raisin gelatin and candied bacon gelatin served with beautiful candied bacon, rum soak raisin, drilled with golden maple syrup, and topped with candied bacon bits, butter crumble and chocolate cake crumble.
Minimalist in interior décor for a more understated yet dazzling environment, Bacons & Brews focuses more on its culinary panache which is more on Western-Asian fusion, besides enriching its selection of food affair with some Japanese elements for that lip-smacking surprise.
