Overall, Dave’s has plenty to offer although the menu needs to be more streamlined and a refresh to keep up with current trends. In these increasingly tough times, it would make better sense to retain the crowd-pleasers and introduce newer items on a trial basis to attract new customers while seeking to inject fresh creativity into its current menu.
DH ordered the Crispy Pork Knuckle for RM 66. We didn't expect for it to be a big portion but boy, it was! And the name says it all - it's really crispy! It's served on a sizzling hot plate and comes with mixed vegetables and potato wedges.
Roast Piglet (Half) RM118 - This western baby piglet delight is very much tastier and interesting to savour if you compare it with those in the Chinese restaurants. It was meatier and gorgeous. You should try it to believe it.
Verdict : Highly recommended for good dining experience. But be prepared when the bill comes. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Iberico Pork Ribs ( RM58.00). *subject to availability. Please ask the service staff. Melt in your mouth Spanich iberico pork ribs served with eggplant caviar, buttered spinach & creamy mash.
This Ham Pizza is a must-try according to my friend. The dough is fluffy and very crispy, the cheese base is absolutely cheesy with succulent ham and juicy pineapples. Very yummy indeed =)
Finally, the much anticipated piece de résistance – baby back pork ribs drenched in signature barbeque sauce and served with sautéed vegetables and mashed potatoes. if that was their signature sauce, then I am truly disappointed as I just didn’t like the taste at all. It tasted like McDonald’s BBQ sauce (the one you get with Chicken McNuggets) watered down.
Venue: Dave's Bistro Bar & Grill, 1 Utama Occasion: Dinner with girlfriends Overall comment: As mentioned by most patrons of Dave's Bistro, the food here is worthy of praise & recommendation. I felt that it's a little pricey though, but since I bought the 50% off coupon deal from Hahah.com.my, I thought it was not too bad for the overall bill. Halal: No
Carbonara with Meat Balls. We found the silky, rich sauce resulting from generous doses of bacon, egg and cheese very addictive! Fried until golden brown all over, the meat balls were so flavorful and juicy.
