Something closer to Chinese flavours is the Biang Biang Inspired Noodle (RM18) that reminds me of spicy pan mee. A simple yet extravagantly flavoured dish loaded with Szechuan chilli oil and toasted peanuts which is the epitome of soul food for me.

From the lunch menu, we highly recommend the Cured Fish Rice (RM30). A hearty, well-balanced bowl of goodness, we especially enjoyed the firm lightly pan-seared cured local mackerel, served on rice with a beautiful ajitama egg, scallion ginger sauce and herb butter.

On a personal Burnt Cheese Cake (RM 16) is dessert that we found it to be special. We were told it was a housemade, and the definition burnt introduced a slight pleasant caramelized taste into the rich and dense cheese cake. A piece of wonder to enjoy. It is noted half of the cake was grabbed by customers when it is being put on selling tray.

Order South China Sea as it seems crowds favorite @ RM 36. Serve with 63 degree poached egg, housemade hash and salsa. Quite a huge chunk of salmon that is serve, looks great in the picture. It is under season, quite pale in flavour and overcook too. Mix of salsa is a bit confusing, filled with apple, capsicum and the fried hash that looks like being fried in a long serving oil that gives such colour and quite at the base plate. I try to finish my salmon, and I guess I gave up along the way. Turns out to be quite disappointing.

A hearty meal that is a staple for most local Chinese families, the Hokkien mee RM9.50 is presented on a banana leaf-lined plate and is ultra-popular largely because of oodles of prawns, pork, squid and generous helpings of lard fritters. The mee is thoroughly enjoyable on its own but for locals, the canister of sambal belacan on each table is one of Restoran Kim Lian Kee’s primary attractions (our personal favourite as well)! 😉

Both the dishes were yummy, especially when after the chilli paste was added. It was slimy, gooey, flavorful, a good dish. Nothing else to say. Yup. I personally liked the Hokkien Mee more than I did the Loh Shu Fan. Them fat, thick yellow hokkien noodles cooked in thick soy sauce – ooo yum! With squids and prawns – yes, I ordered their seafood option, the dish was awesome.

PS150 may still maintain much of its pre-war building’s character, making it one of the most worthwhile visiting bar in KL. Porridge was smooth and has very clean flavour. Tasted like it was simply salted. Hence, a dash or two of soy sauce is essential. The crispy intestine was enjoyable as well as the other thinly slices parts such as tongue and meat. It was sweet, succulent, tender, chewy all in one. It tasted awesome, real good that the plate was empty within minutes. Plenty of green, tomatoes and a fruit – I cant remember what it is referred as but I do not come across many eateries that serves their greens with this particular fruit – it however works, it provided that ‘kick’, a lil sweet and a lil bitterness to it.

Set Lunches: Signature Thunder Rice, 18 ringgit The Thunder Rice was wholesome. It actually is a vegetarian dish with an option to add on chicken, 6 ringgit or salmon, 8 ringgit. In all the rush, we kindda forgot to add on the meat while placing our order and when we finally remembered, we decided to forego it anyways due to the lengthy time it took for the dish to arrive at our table. For a vegetarian option, it wasnt bad at all. It was quite delicious. I did not feel like I was missing out on anything, especially in the absence of meat.
