The very first Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory has landed in Malaysia with their first outlet already operating in Pavilion Elite KL. South Korea’s largest chain of the renowned “Chimaek” has arrived and serving nothing but freshly made to order chicken dishes, this one sure is one of the best chain Korean Fried Chicken place that I have sampled so far. With all their sauces and marination authentically from Seoul, this consistency leads to benefit Malaysians into being the opportunity to get a taste of the brand’s signature flavours and unique offerings in their funky and casual dining ambiance.

Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory has really nailed their chicken dishes to near perfectness. Prices are on the higher end but that’s justifiable for the quality and portion they served. All of their dishes we tried is larger in portion than a lot of places and feeds at least 2 to 3 people. Go for their chicken dishes because they do those really well and their drinks are very good too. Now I am wishing for more Chir Chir outlets to open nearer to me so I can get my fix of fried chicken more often.

People are talking about this cheesecake on the Internet and they even give it a title, which is "The Legendary Cheesecake". Why is it legendary, you ask? Well, I guess it's mostly because of its cheesy, moistly texture and with a sweet touch of whipped cream on top. After hearing all these raves about it from my friends and other people, I decided to find it out myself, which I did, and I totally agreed to the "Legendary Cheesecake" title. If you're a cheesecake lover, this has to be in your bucket list. Plus, it's hardly to find it anywhere else in Malaysia, except here. Why not just give it a try? Where can you find it? You can find it in The Tokyo Restaurant, which is located on the 5th floor of ISETAN The Japan Store!

Wild Honey, the cafe that serves one of the best brunch in Singapore has finally marked their first oversea outlet in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur last year. Expect to pay top dollar here as the prices are on the high side when compared to what most cafes offer with a breakfast dish costing north of RM30 and some even more than RM50. Plus it didn't help when prices increased between RM2 - RM10 for most of their dishes and drinks (when comparing the prices I paid from the ones I saw on a blog 3 months ago). Probably because of the high prices, I think many come with higher-than-usual expectations hoping to be wowed by the food. So, my suggestion would be to keep your expectations in check when you dine here so that you won't be gravely disappointed. For me, the food was decent...maybe not wow (for the prices charged) but, if I judge the components separately, they certainly do compensate with the use of top-notch ingredients, generous portions and competently prepared food. And yes, I can see myself returning...but probably sparingly because of the prices. And next time, I'll choose a lighter option (if I'm dining alone) or make sure I bring a plus one to share a heftier dish! ^_*

Due to changes in the currency exchange rate between the ringgit and the yen, Yakiniku Toraji has improved their signature premium course menu (while retaining the original price) to correctly reflect its true value. Not only the course will include more meat, some of the existing items have been upgraded as well. Lastly, you definitely would not want to miss Yakiniku Toraji’s weekday set lunch. There are two types, one comes with marinated Wagyu beef at RM30 (limited to 10 sets a day) and the other is served with Australian beef (no limit) at RM40. Every set is also accompanied by an appetizer, rice, salad and soup. Trust me, it’s super worth it

Sanoook - Pavilion Restaurant

Lot 1.104 Level 1 Pavilion Elite 168 Jalan Bukit Bintang 55100 Kuala Lumpur

Sanoook is inspired by our love affair with Thai and Japanese cuisine. Using secret, authentic Thai recipes from our flagship restaurant Chakri Palace and adding a twist of presentation and creative culture of Japanese food, we are the first to combine these two delectable cuisines. In Sanoook, we hope to bring you the future of gourmet where cultures and tastes merge, creating a whole new culture of fun dining. ‘Sanook’ means ‘fun’ in Thai. We added another ‘O’ to represent a circle of friendship…Hence, Sanoook means having fun together with friends! Our belief – A good meal can turn strangers into friends, strengthen friendships, and bring solace to a bad day.

The majority of the menu leans towards Thai specialities with Japanese offerings making up a small part of the menu only. The few that I tried, I have to say the Thai dishes made a more positive impact. The food I've managed to try here is average at best (though there's still plenty to try as the menu is quite extensive). Prices may be a little on the high side (for both types of cuisine, especially the desserts) but some of the Thai dishes do come in generous portion-sizes. I'm not sure if I'm convinced to order from the Japanese section of the menu again since they failed to nail the salmon skewer which I thought is one of the easiest things to execute. Managed by the fine folks of Chakri (of which I had the pleasure of dining before), I think the Thai dishes here are still worth checking out as they certainly won't be as expensive as Chakri. Just don't go in with too high an expectation and you should come off satisfied.

Although I've read some negative reviews of this place, I have to say I was pretty pleased with both the food and service on my two visits except for the overpriced drinks that didn't impress. The Spring Noodle Bowl wasn't something I thought I would enjoy but I did! Try the blackened salmon steak and grilled lime chicken or a bit of both in the Sea-to-Land Sharing Platter. Both starters I had (from the Raw Bar section of the menu) I liked too (and you will too if you enjoy tangy flavours). This was a place where the ratings weren't very flattering and yet it turned out better than I had hoped (in fact, even better than some I tried with higher ratings)...go figure! ^_~ So, don't take anyone's word for it...always try it out at least once (or twice in my case) to find out for yourself.

Seafood Risotto RM39.90 Our favourite in D Empire Restaurant. Risotto is getting more common in Kuala Lumpur but not all done it right, sometimes over rich, sticky and way too difficult to finish. Very tiny portion, each meat size is no bigger than 1cm. The duck is even more pathetic, felt like it's leftover food from yesterday - barely even any meat, mostly bones. For half the price you can get a bigger portion if you go any coffee shops out of this pathetic place. On a side note, the only shop worth going to is Kim Lian Kee for their Hokkien Mee. Everything else you see in this food court is overpriced and small portion. Way to cheat tourists.

I'd like to say that my first dining experience at Nam Heong has been a positive one...though their famed Ipoh White Coffee (or black coffee) was a miss for me. I suppose if you're looking for hawker classics in a clean mall environment (and willing to pay mainstream mall prices), this could be a possibility! ^_~ Since what I tried was just a tiny fraction of what they offer, I wanted to return to try more...and I did....but my second outing left much to be desired. You see, I had seen quite a few dishes (on other blogs) that I wanted to try (like poached baby octopus, fried mantou with curry pork, mini assam laksa, etc.) that were available in Starling but was told they've just started (in Pavilion) and didn't have them on the menu yet. So I returned (more than 3 months later) one dinner night hoping that I may be able to savour these and more but couldn't find them on the menu. Not only that but we found some other dishes that we wanted to try (that were listed on their paper menu coz we were given a copy) not listed on their iPad menu (one such dish was the signature dry assam curry noodles which I wanted to try). There were also many dishes listed on the iPad as Sold Out (and some of them were their signature dishes). How can a restaurant run out of their signature dishes...at prime dinner time (7.30pm) on a weekend? I decided to ask a server and was told that whatever I can't find on the iPad means they don't have it anymore (I don't know if that meant just that evening or no longer on the menu for good...even something as simple as char siew rice)! @_@ In the end, we got up and left. This is certainly not the impression I have of how Nam Heong runs its business (unless it was just this outlet only). I doubt I'll return to a place where I have to second-guess what will or will not be on the menu or what I can or cannot have on any given day! :P

Although I'm glad that the standard of the food has been maintained, the service from the kitchen was far from smooth. The waiting period for our food leaves much to be desired and, if you want to eat here, do not expect your food to arrive in the right order that it should be. It all depends on how busy each individual food station is (steaming station, noodles station, frying station, etc.) with their orders as they seem to churn out food independent of each other. I guess if you choose your timing wisely (like during non lesser peak times), hopefully you may end up with a much better dining experience. ^_* But having said that, the food is still good, some decent but mostly good...plus it still serves one of my favourite XLBs. The only downside, their prices seem to have risen quite significantly but their portions still remain small...even a vegetable dish of pea shoots ("tau miew") can cost RM26....haiz!

We enjoyed the food and beverage at Greyhound Café tremendously as well as the beautiful ambiance. It may be labeled as trendy food but we really enjoyed the Thai dishes with a twist. Greyhound café is also perfect for celebrations with family and friends for those who are game to try modern Thai cuisine.

Greyhound Cafe Malaysia is beautifully decorated and is definitely an “Instagramable place” for Instagrammers. Will the franchise in Malaysia do well or better than the one in Thailand? Price wise, it is definitely on the high side. Food wise, it was alright. I don’t know. What say you?

Porco Macau Pork Chop Bun Restaurant

Lot 10 Hutong Food Court Lower Ground Floor Lot 10 Shopping Centre Jalan Sultan Ismail 50250 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Once upon a time in Old Macau, a creative young woman learnt to make Portuguese food, Portuguese pork chops and its famous bread from a Portuguese chef. She served the pork chop and the bread together, in her own distinctively style, and the first pork chop buns were born. Chef Yoke learnt the recipe from an old sifu who had spent his life cooking in Macau's very fanous pork chop bun restaurant. Hand selected pork chops are marinated in sauces, spices, herbs and wine, fried and placed in a bun. She brings these fusion flavours to you at Lot 10 Hutong

Well, they say "one bite 'n' you're hooked"....well, I used to be but not anymore since I've now had the privilege of eating better fish & chips elsewhere. It's funny how things taste good at one time don't seem to be so later on in life (or vice versa, in some cases, like what bitter gourd used to be for me). I think it's because our tastebuds got elevated (over time) from all that eating....I know mine did! ;) But the fact that they continue to open more outlets (the latest one being in Sunway Velocity) goes to show that some still find their fish & chips worthy for its reasonable pricing and big portions.

Premium meat served at Da On in Pavilion. I don't know why they classify themselves under fine cuisine, as the setting is pretty much very general Korean setting - grill, side dishes, drinks, flat chopsticks. I have to admit their meat are all very fresh, cold noodles good, a little chewy but good, bibimbap not quite up to par (their beef is cooked beforehand, not the raw version, therefore you won't be able to tell the quality of your meat) but in general everything's fine. It's a little pricier than most Korean shops in Klang Valley.

After reading about the 50% opening promotion of iberico ribs at a newly opened month-old Spanish inspired restaurant, there was no way I'd forego such a great deal, so here we were at El Iberico @ Pavilion. Even though I was disappointed that the ribs didn't turn out looking quite as spectacular as the ones I saw online, I wasn't disappointed with the taste. And because the ribs were half the price, there's definitely no cause for complaint as it's one heck of a deal! Now if I were to pay full price for these ribs (now that the opening promotion is over), I'll probably be more critical in my assessment. I'd like the ribs to be bigger or longer and I'd want them looking more like the ones from Gourmet Hunter KL's video shown on El Iberico's Facebook.....and with a tad more roasted vegetables! :P I might return at some point but hopefully by then there'd be better consistency in the size and fattiness of the normal priced ribs. I'll definitely not be happy if I get even one overly fatty rib. That isn't too much to ask, is it? Hope not. ^_~
