Considering the quality of the food, and the fact that it's in a 5 star hotel, I'd say it is rather reasonably priced.

When the restaurant first opened, everyone was raving about it and we thought "how good can a cheesecake be". Once we had a taste of it, we were hooked! Priced at RM20, you will get a slice of lusciously rich and creamy cheesecake with whipped cream. To get the ball rolling, we were treated to the latest Curry Fried Chicken dish. Wah, I loved this chicken dish to the max. Brought to the table smelling so deliciously aromatic with the curry spices and herbs seasoning, I just can't wait to sink my teeth into this dish. Wonderfully juicy and fragrant, with the sweet and spicy flavours waking up our taste buds upon the first bite. Soft succulence, though not as spicy as local version, this one still packs loads of punchy spicy notes.

I'd like to say that my first dining experience at Nam Heong has been a positive one...though their famed Ipoh White Coffee (or black coffee) was a miss for me. I suppose if you're looking for hawker classics in a clean mall environment (and willing to pay mainstream mall prices), this could be a possibility! ^_~ Since what I tried was just a tiny fraction of what they offer, I wanted to return to try more...and I did....but my second outing left much to be desired. You see, I had seen quite a few dishes (on other blogs) that I wanted to try (like poached baby octopus, fried mantou with curry pork, mini assam laksa, etc.) that were available in Starling but was told they've just started (in Pavilion) and didn't have them on the menu yet. So I returned (more than 3 months later) one dinner night hoping that I may be able to savour these and more but couldn't find them on the menu. Not only that but we found some other dishes that we wanted to try (that were listed on their paper menu coz we were given a copy) not listed on their iPad menu (one such dish was the signature dry assam curry noodles which I wanted to try). There were also many dishes listed on the iPad as Sold Out (and some of them were their signature dishes). How can a restaurant run out of their signature dishes...at prime dinner time (7.30pm) on a weekend? I decided to ask a server and was told that whatever I can't find on the iPad means they don't have it anymore (I don't know if that meant just that evening or no longer on the menu for good...even something as simple as char siew rice)! @_@ In the end, we got up and left. This is certainly not the impression I have of how Nam Heong runs its business (unless it was just this outlet only). I doubt I'll return to a place where I have to second-guess what will or will not be on the menu or what I can or cannot have on any given day! :P

For patrons who craves for the endless varieties of good food Ipoh has to offer and yes, hor fun, toast bread & Kopi — is definitely top on the list. Established in 1958, this is where the tastes of traditional Ipoh fare live on, says Nam Heong. From Ipoh to KL, Nam Heong evolves with the test of time by introducing the use of technology to elevate the dining experience, hence earning its position as one of the most iconic brands in Ipoh’s rich culinary scene. No doubt on that.

The majority of the menu leans towards Thai specialities with Japanese offerings making up a small part of the menu only. The few that I tried, I have to say the Thai dishes made a more positive impact. The food I've managed to try here is average at best (though there's still plenty to try as the menu is quite extensive). Prices may be a little on the high side (for both types of cuisine, especially the desserts) but some of the Thai dishes do come in generous portion-sizes. I'm not sure if I'm convinced to order from the Japanese section of the menu again since they failed to nail the salmon skewer which I thought is one of the easiest things to execute. Managed by the fine folks of Chakri (of which I had the pleasure of dining before), I think the Thai dishes here are still worth checking out as they certainly won't be as expensive as Chakri. Just don't go in with too high an expectation and you should come off satisfied.

With so many esteemed outlets flourishing ever since the new extension of Pavilion KL shopping mall came alive, various F&B brands also starts pouring in on top of the potpourri of specialties shops, departmental stores, jewellery and timepieces, fashions, urban leisures and many more. And among them is the stylish ACME Bar & Coffee, located at the third floor of the shopping mall’s covered promenade, just slightly further up from Michelangelo's (my fave Italian pit stop)

Although I've read some negative reviews of this place, I have to say I was pretty pleased with both the food and service on my two visits except for the overpriced drinks that didn't impress. The Spring Noodle Bowl wasn't something I thought I would enjoy but I did! Try the blackened salmon steak and grilled lime chicken or a bit of both in the Sea-to-Land Sharing Platter. Both starters I had (from the Raw Bar section of the menu) I liked too (and you will too if you enjoy tangy flavours). This was a place where the ratings weren't very flattering and yet it turned out better than I had hoped (in fact, even better than some I tried with higher ratings)...go figure! ^_~ So, don't take anyone's word for it...always try it out at least once (or twice in my case) to find out for yourself.

Although I'm glad that the standard of the food has been maintained, the service from the kitchen was far from smooth. The waiting period for our food leaves much to be desired and, if you want to eat here, do not expect your food to arrive in the right order that it should be. It all depends on how busy each individual food station is (steaming station, noodles station, frying station, etc.) with their orders as they seem to churn out food independent of each other. I guess if you choose your timing wisely (like during non lesser peak times), hopefully you may end up with a much better dining experience. ^_* But having said that, the food is still good, some decent but mostly good...plus it still serves one of my favourite XLBs. The only downside, their prices seem to have risen quite significantly but their portions still remain small...even a vegetable dish of pea shoots ("tau miew") can cost RM26....haiz!

My Personal Opinion Bring your sweet tooth (and, by that, I really mean your sweet tooth) if you want to enjoy these baked goods. Make sure you order yourself a black coffee...and make sure it's bitter (without adding sugar) to cut through all that sweetness, otherwise it'll send you straight to diabetic heaven! ;P In the end, it proved way too sweet for me to have any remote chance of enjoying these sweet goodies. I'm afraid once was quite enough! >_< I'd rather go for the famous Japanese pastry, Chateraise Patisserie, instead.

After reading about the 50% opening promotion of iberico ribs at a newly opened month-old Spanish inspired restaurant, there was no way I'd forego such a great deal, so here we were at El Iberico @ Pavilion. Even though I was disappointed that the ribs didn't turn out looking quite as spectacular as the ones I saw online, I wasn't disappointed with the taste. And because the ribs were half the price, there's definitely no cause for complaint as it's one heck of a deal! Now if I were to pay full price for these ribs (now that the opening promotion is over), I'll probably be more critical in my assessment. I'd like the ribs to be bigger or longer and I'd want them looking more like the ones from Gourmet Hunter KL's video shown on El Iberico's Facebook.....and with a tad more roasted vegetables! :P I might return at some point but hopefully by then there'd be better consistency in the size and fattiness of the normal priced ribs. I'll definitely not be happy if I get even one overly fatty rib. That isn't too much to ask, is it? Hope not. ^_~

Very tiny portion, each meat size is no bigger than 1cm. The duck is even more pathetic, felt like it's leftover food from yesterday - barely even any meat, mostly bones. For half the price you can get a bigger portion if you go any coffee shops out of this pathetic place. On a side note, the only shop worth going to is Kim Lian Kee for their Hokkien Mee. Everything else you see in this food court is overpriced and small portion. Way to cheat tourists.
