Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill Restaurant

Level 6, Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, 50088 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Slick, Sexy and New Age is the only way to describe Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill. At the lounge, whilst sipping your favourite martini, whether stirred or shaken, the view of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and the illumination from the surroundings makes a stunning masterpiece to behold. The Lounge makes an impressive beverage menu with cocktails being the specialty and is conducive for before and after dinner cocktails and digestives. At the Grill, enjoy a well-designed dinner in a cosy yet stylish atmosphere. The Grill offers arguably the best steaks with different fine cuts. Gobo Upstairs' team of fine chefs maintains that the best way to enjoy a piece of steak is to have it grilled and that is exactly how they will prepare it for their guests and to their preference. Sauces and accompaniments are available as side orders.

My boy, who is a big scallop fan, loved the seared scallops (he had two!) - plump and juicy, served with butter corn miso foam with bottarga and the crispiest spinach tempura. So delicious! The scallops were sweet tasting and fresh, making them perfect for a carpaccio dish. The thinly sliced raw scallops were topped with orange segments, wild rocket and yuzu dressing.

Bang Bang Chicken , 22 ringgit. This dish was not on the menu the first time I visited. Glad I ordered it this time because it was delicious. This dish consisted of shredded chicken + cabbage + glass noodle + chinese rice wine + housemade chili oil. The only downside to this dish was that the glass noodle came in a really small portion, by small I mean – I literally took a fork full of noodles to transfer it onto my plate and there isnt any left. Just one fork full, no joke. That was the only bummer. The minute this dish arrived at my table, I was salivating. The shredded chicken was packed with flavor and spices. It totally had an oriental feel to it. There is a certain kick to it. You keep going in for more. It is worth giving this dish a try guys.

Inspired by the Chong Qing-Grilled Fish, Fatt Kee Roast Fish has recently gained a lot of attention from netizens due to its gigantic serving with loads of Seafood swimming in the huge pot. The concept is not new- Deep Fried Fish with Seafood (like Prawns, Squid, Flower Clams) and vegetables soaked in a spicy-savory Seafood broth; served in the way similar to Hot Pot/ Steamboat. The spiciness varies and can be tuned accordingly but the heat-intolerant should be extra careful on selecting the spiciness as it can be lip-burning hot. It can be then enjoyed just like an ordinary Hot Pot, with extra condiments like Udon, Vegetables and Seafood to be added. Do note that there are two branches and both locations are near to each other; one is air-conditioned while another one is al-fresco setting. The flavors were fun and the combination was exciting, a place worth visiting.

There's nothing I like more than dining in a place that's serene and beautiful as food always tastes better when you're in the right mood and feeling relaxed! ;) You can't go wrong with pizzas or salads here...you may even want to give their unique take on laksa a try. Though I felt that desserts may not be their forte (in a place that's focussed on food rather than desserts), they were able to hold their own and proved respectable...just don't compare them with speciality dessert houses or artisan bakeries (it wouldn't be fair to) and you should still come away with your sweet cravings satisfied.

Tiki Taka, located in the housing neighborhood of Medan Damansara, has been serving lots of scrumptious East meets West inspired tapas bites. Coupled with their full bar service, it is one of the better place to hang out in that area for good food and drinks. This round, the new menu is bolder and definitely better. Filled with lots of porky fare, there’s plenty of small bites as well as mains and a sweet ending. We visited once evening for a sneak peek and was pretty stoke about the luscious menu coupled with a few giggle juices.

The reviews I read on their Facebook Page seem pretty mixed of late with complaints of either the long wait for a table, the service or they didn't fancy the type of food served. As far as the food was concerned, I had no complaints on the two we tried that morning. Not only did it taste good, it was beautifully plated as well. In fact, their version of french toast is the best version I've had so far. I actually liked that their menu is a bit more creative than the usual cafe food we get elsewhere but if you're looking for some variation of a big breakfast, you won't find it here. So, patrons looking for the standard breakfast fare of bacon, ham, sausages and eggs done any way, let me forewarn you that you might be up for some disappointment. Our half an hour wait, during peak brunch hours on a public holiday, was more than acceptable for a place like this with so much awareness. Due to the crowd, even the owner cum chef helped cleared tables and served us, so I'm pleased with the service. When we left a little over an hour later, there was still a perpetual queue (but none at the other eateries). So, what does that tell you about its popularity...or their food? ;) Personally, I would return in a heartbeat. I would so love to try more of their food...and eat that french toast again! ^o^

Wok-seared Japanese Hokkaido scallops topped with fragrant pickle, chili and egg (RM83 / 2pcs) Ginormous scallops came in the most appealing presentation. Already winning just by the look of it. We thoroughly enjoyed the sheer sweetness that diffused onto our taste buds attributed to the freshness of the scallops.
