Lala Chong Seafood Restaurant, situated in Ara Damansara which is just about 10 minutes from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport Subang / Federal Highway turn off...
I never know there are two Lala Chong Seafood Village restaurant and I didn't even know both of them located at Ara Damansara. Even though they are located at the same area but the main branch is located at Kayu Ara Damansara which is 20 minutes away from here. Same area but not really close because of too many twists and turns road to reach. It was confusing enough to make us lost our way. Some group ended up at the main branch while I was here at the other branch. I am wondering what is their business strategy in opening another branch.
THE STAR of the night - Salted Egg Crab (RM108). I don't really fancy much about salted egg crab, as most of the restaurant kinda screw this dish up. Though this wasn't the best salted egg crab I've eaten, but it's worth the mention still. The crabs were nicely covered by the fragrant salted egg, and you could taste the salted egg with every bite.
We eat eat eat until i forgotten to take the individual photo for these dishes. I prefer the creamy crab with mantou as the creamy sauce full of the crab taste and once you dip the mantou into it. It's just nice. The mantou's texture is soft and fine. The Soya Sauce Fried Tiger Prawn also NOT BAD. The prawn IS FRESH... The belacan fried ba ku vege very nice and tasty.
Tells a lot when the Chinese restaurant does not even serve pork (yes, they’re pork free, but not sure of the halal status). A must order at Lala Chong naturally is their “Siong Tong La La” or steamed clams in a Chinese wine broth. Routinely, we do see ‘dai chow’ restaurants serving this dish, albeit with a variety of different clams. But at Lala Chong, they use the smaller ones, supposedly sweeter with a better texture; almost to a crunch. And I was told that they could whip up a mean fried beehoon (rice vermicelli noodles) with lala clams, though we settled for conventional white rice to go with our dishes.
Shiong Tong Lala (Clams in Superior Stock) A must order when dine in at Lala Chong! I think the owner name inspired by this? Definitely their signature dish, well flavored with Chinese rice wine, ginger shreds & bird eye chilies. The soup was burst with sweetness from the fresh clams too~~
