A good xiao long bao has a thin, almost translucent skin and is filled with flavorful meat in bursting soup juice, but the skin on the XLB was thicker than usual, and the fillings were nice and solid.
I was having lunch at Beauty World Food Centre when I came across Mentai SENS (明太晟). The Signature Mentaiko Chicken Don was calling my name, so I ordered it for lunch!

HamBaoBao is loved by many. Ryan is a great example of our next generation of hawkerpreneurs who keep and honour traditions, and carry on legacies. It’s exciting to see how our hawker culture will change in the future!
I do not eat beef brisket noodle often therefore I am not too sure of the traditional way of having it but I cannot do without sambal chili when having dry noodle.
The beef was actually quite good with a good beefy flavour and chewiness without being tough. The tendon was really good, soft and qq like jelly. The soup though was somewhat bland and “soapy”, although the kway teow was nicely soft and slippery.
Traditional Desserts that is worth your stomach space.
Recommended by Miss Tam Chiak. Quite nice and similar to the one at Bukit Merah View – thick, fragrant and not overly sweet, with mung beans that were of just the right texture, soft but with bite. The added bonus here was that the you tiao was toasted and crispy. A bit more expensive at $1.80 though.
Tau suan brings back sweet memories of my childhood when my aunt used to always make them on weekends.
I should have gone for their Special Tonkotsu Ramen for $6.90 that consists of 3 slices of chashu, black fungus, soft-boiled egg with seaweed, which offers a better value.
