Maybe buffets aren’t that bad after all. Post-COVID-19 SOPs certainly make them much for pleasurable for introverted hygiene freaks such as myself. No one should complain about the quality and variety of food at Latest Recipe Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. And, while hubby holds none of my qualms, the half-price promo is undoubtedly a win.

Coming to “Eggs” choices. There are five to pick from the latest menu but recommendation wise, it is difficult because all are lovely. It depends if you love to have it in poached eggs, scrambled eggs or omelette. We personally enjoyed Single Poached Egg, Ratatouille, Fresh Basil, Parmesan on Sourdough Toast (RM20), as well as Sauteed Tiger Prawns, Two Onsen Style Poached Eggs in Glass with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Mixed Cress, Multigrain Bread Stick (RM30) – a dish that has got us impressed since our first visit, and still equally delicious till today. Must-try.
Overall the food has good standards but the interior of the restaurant is slightly dated and in dire need of a facelift. The high price point with outdated interior doesn’t quite justify the worthiness but thankfully the food is good!
Reasons to visit Prime Le Meridien KL: a restaurant were steak is handled with absolute respect; chef Ramiro Moya brings a fantastic new menu to the restaurant with some authentic Latin American touches and beautiful plating; a great wine list.

With the happers pink bazar, this high tea session at the St Regis KL remained faithful to the classic combination of finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet pastries accompanied by a remarkable selection of lovely tea choices. All three of us ordered three different tea and all three were pleasant if not magnificent to pair with the tiers dainty sweet treats. Sampled morsels of their splendid sandwiches and experienced the friendliest and most charming service by the immaculately suited servicing team. Reasons to visit: A fantastic place to get into the holiday spirit. Whether it’s an afternoon tea or a larger holiday meal, the food, atmosphere and service are all top rate and you’ll leave feeling festive. And, the strawberry chocolate fountain is great fun too.
I do believe that the afternoon tea at The Hilton KL is overpriced and I won’t be returning. The main reason we chose this place was because of their promotion, which was something unique and different. If it weren’t for the Chocolate High Tea, we would have easily passed over this option.
Reasons to visit: indulge in a pretty afternoon tea while contributing to a great cause; stylish lobby lounge with stunning views.
Reasons to visit: relaxing setting – especially a window seat, pretty hi-tea set, soothing piano background music.
For starters, we had the Crispy Calamari (RM68.00) - and this was a great choice to kickstart our meal. It was appetizing on the verge of addictive, with a nice and chewy crunch to it. At the side, squid ink aioli.
While I would not rate The Brasserie as just a 2, they do not deserve a solid 3 either due to the sauce of the tuna and definitely the dessert which was a real flop in my opinion.

Reasons to visit: A stylish bar with prices that don’t (!) match – drinks are actually quite reasonably priced here, especially during happy hours, and the location is fab. From the cocktail menu, try the decadent pluck of the New Fashioned, the garden punch vivacity of The Phone Booth, or channel your inner Don Draper with a Good Morning.
Favola, Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur’s Italian restaurant, gifts diners with a small piece of Venice in its setting. Grand arches, fresco murals and paper mâché carnival masks make lively décor. The cuisine however is distinctively southern, thanks to head chef Domenico Piras.
That meant on my return I tried out Pak Punjab, which sells Pakistani curry. It had a decent cheese naan, with an ok dhal to dip it in. Solid, and I wouldn’t mind trying their onion paratha. Prices here are quite reasonable too.
Reasons to visit Aviary Bar: the home of the Malaysian classic cocktail, the Jungle Bird; five versions to try!
Reasons to visit: Depending on your palate, the Bloody Mary is for those who like salty and sour, and the Birthday Cake is a great sweet treat. Regardless of your drink choice, our tastebuds voted for the Foie Gras and Truffle Burger!
