La Mian with Pork Dumbling in Hot Chili Vinaigrette, 20.90 ringgit. When this dish first arrived at my table, my first thought was “its looks little, would it be enough to satisfy my hungry stomach?” So, did it? Yessss, it did. Just having the 4 pork dumpling itself, I was already halfway full. Those things came in generous sizes, packed with meat. However, if you are not a fan of Szechuan pepper, you may not like this dish because trust me – this dish comes packed with it. I had not issue with it, in fact – I loved the extra kicked it gave me, I slurped it all up until the bowl was empty. Burp!
That dry butter chicken was utterly delicious. It was not the usual creamy, wet butter chicken variety but this was made in a way that was similar to butter prawns? It was dry with fried butter, egg bits scattered all over. Yea, it tasted exactly like butter prawns except it was chicken here. Delicious!
(502) Homemade Spicy Soup Pan Mee, 11.30 ringgit. They would ask you whether you would want some vinegar to be added into your soup and I decided to give it a try, since the guy did assure me that it would taste good, nothing too overly strong. I liked it, the vinegar offered a lil extra kick to the soup, just a lil. I do not like the taste of bitterness that accompanies vinegar but you would hardly taste the bitterness here. It dooes seem like when mixed with the spicy soup, the bitterness changes to something more appealing and pleasant. I liked it.
But I think retirement just doesn't suit the Lees, because lo and behold, they're running a noodle shop in OUG now. Well, it's called a noodle house but there's plenty of non noodle dishes, like this delicious pork rice
Reasonably priced at RM 7 only, Karen's Curry Mee is one great spicy and creamy curry broth generously loaded with toppings of Roasted Pork Belly (Siew Yoke), Deep-Fried Foo Chuk, Pork Skin (Chee Pei), Beancurd or Tofu Puff (Taufu Pok) and Long Beans.
A trendy cafe, quite crowded. The food and drink is pretty good actually. The Chincalok Chicken is crispy and juicy, and the Tiramisu really melt in your mouth with every bite.
The place seemed to be packed with customers on a friday afternoon starting from lunch time! Many come here for the "very affordable" beer.
This Indian-Malaysian Mamaks sure knows how to stir up our appetite with this cheap but absolutely delicious great street food noodle dish! Do give it a try if you're around the vicinity
New Village Restaurant is a hidden gem is Plaza Oug which serves authentic Chinese delicacies. A taste to bring you back to memory lane. A variety of food that reminds me of my childhood.
If you are not familiar with Plaza OUG or has never stepped into this oldish shopping mall in the Old Klang Road neighbourhood, then you’d probably not pay much attention to Restaurant New Village tucked away in an obscure spot on the Ground Floor. It’s about a month old, having taken over the premise which used to house a Vietnamese restaurant. The owners didn’t really renovate the place much besides sprucing it up with some new fixtures – the place remains very much a casual but rustically comfortable dining space. After all, they want the food to shine and not the furniture. Being passionate foodies themselves, the owners and chefs have come up with a menu featuring authentic traditional Chinese cuisine – dishes which are classics and favourites which they ate back home when they were growing up.
The latest addition to the Chinese F&B outlets serving only authentic Chinese dishes is the New Village Chinese Restaurant. Located at Plaza OUG, the bustling suburban along Old Klang Road, this newly opened Chinese restaurant, not only serves authentic local Chinese cuisine but also offers an exciting new mixed of nostalgic and fusion cooking using the freshest village ingredients to entice your taste buds. The restaurant is fast making a name for itself with it's unique and interesting dish fit for a king or rather an Emperor - New Village Signature Beggar Chicken.
The environment is pretty nice, a cozy home surrounded by many things and books, and a garden view. The music selection is meh. The chef recommended a fish and chicken meal for the day, and an..
My family and I were totally delighted that even with the Movement Control Order (MCO) in place, we are still able to enjoy our favourite Western pasta dishes and those heavenly chocolate cake with my wholesome wholemeal loaf bread. And even better when it gets delivered right to our doorstep, in just a few clicks.
This set comes with the Le Pont Bread Butter Pudding - This rich, decadent custard bread pudding is a classic casserole, made from bread soaked in creamy vanilla custard. The vanilla sauce was just perfect - deliciously creamy, not too thick and fragrant.
Beef lovers will be delighted with Le Pont Slow-Cooked French Roast Beef ~ Juicy beef ribs slowed-cooked to perfection in traditional French sous vide style.
Coco Steamboat
Being one of the pioneer steamboat restaurants in town, Coco Steamboat had recently opened their largest outlet at Scott Garden, Old Klang Road. With the 22,600 square feet restaurant, now one can enjoy the delicious steamboat in air conditioned and also ample of parking space.
On our visit, we tried out their rich and creamy Signature Pork Bone Broth with Zhu Er Ge Pork Set plus a variety of ingredients such as fresh sliced fish, homemade cuttlefish, Popo's squid ball, Popo's stuffed ginger pork ball, Popo's prawn ball, shimeji mushroom, tong ho, shrimp dumplings, fried fish curd, tofu and many more.
Verdict: All thing considered, we enjoyed our lunch at Papasan Canteen. Affordable price range, delicious food with good portion, definitely something I look forward to have it again if I’m in the territory.
Here's the location.
Kicking things off with a generous portion of Butter Poached Brittany Blue Lobster. The presentation may look a little bland and ordinary, but trust me, it all lies within the freshness and method of execution of the lobster. Beautifully coloured and packed full of natural sweetness, this piece of lobster tail is definitely something to die for.
Next to arrive is the Wagyu with asparagus. The beef was so tender, melt-in-the-mouth and juicy..... oh so good! Can I please have more? ;)
Next is the course I'm most excited for - the sashimi moriawase - and boy, what an impressive, beautifully assembled platter it was! Featuring 10 different types of seafood, we thoroughly enjoyed the amazingly fresh, thick slices of salmon, salmon belly, kodai, hirame, hotate, akagai, amaebi, kanpachi, shima aji and tai.
The Edamame Pork Lard Rice (RM 13) is the best simple inexpensive comfort food. Lychee coffee (RM 13) is interesting, and Jelly of the Day (RM 6) is satisfying. The jelly ran out pretty fast, so..
A simple cafe with a simple meal, but some really tasty simple comfort food. Pork lard is the specialty here, and I personally think it goes well with rice. Coffee and cake is nice too, too bad the..
Overall, the 2 dishes we tried above is just so so, maybe their other dishes like orh chien, wantan mee will fare better
Love this place: great service with good dessert and mains and coffee. Cappuccino is good, Tiramisu is good and Shakshuka is tasty.
Cold Brew Orange (RM 13) is nice, but probably too much orange (sourish). The star is the Cheese Terrine Cake (RM 13), soft and milky, and feels very much like Japanese cheesecake.
The French Toast caught our attention as we skimmed through the menu. It was too inviting not to order! The homemade fat white bread is soooooo good! Prolonging on the so just cause. With heaps of fresh fruits and side of fresh cream. Vibrant, just like how we want our day to be!
This is a pretty unique Chinese neighborhood restaurant, with a slightly upscale price, yet they do come up with some pretty unique dishes. The Dongpo Pork (RM 65) is pretty good, but I feel it..
Better to make reservation or sit outside (come early). I think the food is pretty special and nice.
Finally, the most interesting dish served that night was a stir fried kailan with preserved olives and mustard leaves. Salty, earthy, oily are the flavors and textures that come to mind when eating this dish but the flavor profile is closest to kailan stir fried with mui choi and black beans. It's a pretty addictive flavor as it's rather salty but it's just the right level with rice.
Verdict: If I were staying nearby, this place would become my regular eating spot! Love the food here, and of course the affordable price!
Their prices are very affordable, portions are generous, and the service is impeccable – the latter is somewhat of a rarity in many F&B outlets in Malaysia – so a big thumbs up to the Yamatatsu team. If you’re planning to stop by for your Japanese/Taiwanese food fix, I suggest coming early to avoid the queue.
Yamatatsu Cafe serves Taiwanese-Japanese cuisine, and located in Old Klang Road, Kua...
