The slightly expensive rm$9 "干咖喱排骨麵 Stewed Dry Curry Pork Ribs Noodle" was acceptable but wasn't my liking today
Chan Meng Kee does offer good safe Covid-19 dining procedures with workers all on Masks and tables with Social Distancing partition screens
Will definitely be back here maybe for their Roasted Duck or Steamed chicken in the future!
My Personal Opinion Still more than a decent place for roasted meats with a few crowd-pleasing side snacks, crispy or otherwise. Best choice will be the char siew followed by the poached or fried chicken and siew yuk in that order...hehe! ;) The texture of the wantan noodles, which are thinner than the norm, tends to be a bit on the soft side (I don't remember them being this soft previously). Either that or they were overcooked. So, if you don't like soft noodles, have your roasted meats with rice instead. I did enjoy their new dish of minced pork with barbecued sausages as I find the noodles of this one not as soft.
Ambiance: 5.5/10 Price: 6.5/10 Food: 6.5/10 (non halal) Verdict: I found the wantan mee and roasted meats pretty good, though the curry laksa could have been better.
You won’t be disappointed with the quality and the taste of the food so this place is worth the visit. The restaurant is usually packed during lunch hours and most of the time you have to wait for tables. If you are a wantan mee lover, you can definitely give it a try.
Char siew wan tan mee @ RM6.00. I find the wan tan noodles and wan tan (not in picture) to be mediocre. The price is slightly on the high side.
Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 4/5 - The BBQ pork almost can melt in your mouth slowly. The honey juice slowly flowing out from the meat was a great experience. Not oily to make you feel queasy and not over-barbecued to have the bitter taste spoiling your taste bud. I will say it is perfect. If they served me for a 5 pax portion, I can easily finished them off! As for the roasted pork, you can choose whether you want a no fat pork, a little fat pork or fatty pork. From what you can see from the picture is a little fat pork. People said that if totally no fat, you don't considered it as a roasted pork. I like this roasted pork because it is not salty at all like I normally had. The little fat is juicy and not queasy.
Overall, Chan Meng Kee serves good Wantan Mee but is unable to cope with their sudden new found fame and the large volume of customers that comes with it. I would not mind returning if the waiting time is not that absurdly long.
A noodle house specializing in their signature egg noodles, topped with a variety of choices; char siew, roast pork, dry curry pork ribs or wild boar curry,
