If you're looking for some fine dining but with a more casual setting and at prices that will not cause your jaws to drop (especially the Day Menu), then this may be just the place for you. Ambience was great, food was top-notch, service was faultless by Shaun and the wait staff...except for the demeanour of one condescending female wait staff (which I will not dwell upon) that put a little damper on what was otherwise a flawless service and experience....coz that's how I want to remember it...as a truly lovely experience! ^_* Definitely a worthy venue to keep in mind (for dinner) when you have a special occasion to celebrate. A great place to hang out with friends over lunch (for a more wallet-friendly meal) and a few mocktails (or cocktails)...and you might just want to stay for dessert...especially the not-to-be-missed visually stunning Texture of Chocolate :)

The Tiger Prawn Roulade is the perfect example of head to tail eating, utilising every part of the prawn including its head and shell. Drawing inspiration from yong tau foo, the roulade is made with locally sourced prawns; with minced and diced prawns and chestnuts for added texture. The shells are used to make the aioli which the deep fried prawn head sits on. Pickled torch ginger flower and pickled radish complete this delightful dish. One of my favorites from the new menu!

Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken and Sotong Sambal (RM11) Two of the better side dish here are the Sambal Sotong and Fried chicken. The fried chicken had a wonderful smell, moist and tender on the inside. The Sambal Sotong on the other hand is cooked to the right tenderness. Banana Pancakes mixed Berries, 16 ringgit. Looks fancy, ey? This has to be a first for me, being served pancakes on a solid wooden platter. I like it 🙂 So, the dish comes with a mini bowl with mixed berries + 2 fluffy pancakes filled with bananas + a real generous portion of good honey. In most cases, I usual have to request for a refill of honey , especially when they use a good one. Considering the price, I understand why they stinge on it but still, as a customer, you need to demand your share, especially when it comes to pancakes. Here though, they literally present you with a lot of honey, so much more than usual that it is highly likely you would request for more. I was literally jumping with glee. The pancakes as a whole was delicious. The pancakes although is thicker than the usual ones – it is not less fluffy , with a sense of lightness to it. Having it on its own with the banana was good enough. Add it good honey and the sourness from the berries – one yummy pancake. Loved it.

Salted Egg with Kunyit Sotong, 13 ringgit. However, between the fish and sotong dish – I fancied the ‘sotong’ dish more. The squids were finger licking good. Just like the fish, the it was marinated in turmeric as well and boy was it flavorful. Just look at them ‘sotongs’ , yummmm! It was all crunchy on the outside and all soft and chewy on the inside. Now, this dish, I’d certainly give it another go. It certainly provided me with a burst of flavors. Loved it.

I don't understand, their food ain't fantastic to be charging prices like Chillis, it's slightly better than Pappa Rich perhaps but charging rocket high prices. If you deliver the right portion it would make much more sense. Sorry Dome, doesn't make sense for a cafe to charge that kind of price. Still, there are a lot of patrons are fine with paying something that's not great in value. Although I have to admit, their food quality is satisfactory. I really like this place as this is one of the old coffee shops that serves traditional Hainanese food and there are not many Chinese shops around the area. Unfortunately, after a few visits, I thought they could have done better. Don't think any improvements will be done since this place has been around forever and they only cater to regulars.

Among all the food we tried, Encik Tan Singapore Laksa RM10 is our personal favourite. Looks simple but tasty. Silky Beans sprout, fish cake slices, tau pok and halved egg top over silky smooth noodles in rich, bright orange broth – simple, but tasty. Love how the aromatic hints of stir-fried dried shrimp helps to lift up the overall flavours.
