If you’re looking for a compelling argument to give pig liver a try, there’s a hawker stall you need to visit—Jin Xi Lai (Mui Siong) Minced Meat Noodle.
A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
Jin Xi Lai (Mui Siong) Minced Meat Noodle, situated in Yi He Eating House, boasts a BCM recipe that’s more than 50 years old!
My favourite bowl of Pork Porridge in Singapore.
I love how every component in this bowl of porridge is coming together beautifully not just in terms of flavors but textures as well.
This was something I would eat very often if I stayed nearby, if not for the wait and the heat. My favourite porridge in Singapore, together with Soon Lee at Clementi.
As for the prawn soup, I am relieved that there is no overwhelming saccharine levels of rock sugar because that is how the prawn soup from my neighborhood tastes like.
Sometimes expectations can get way too high when you hear about a restaurant or a stall in Singapore. So I always have to temper them when I eat at a place that has been featured many times on tv o…
Although on the lighter side, it is still flavorful enough with crustacean essence and a underlying pork sweetness that does not make me feel guilty for finishing it to the last drop.
An epicureanistic corollary to its 3-year-old burgeoning Cantonese tour de force of a near identical name, Jia He Grand Chinese Restaurant officially unfurled at One Farrer Hotel on 16 November...
At Jia He you have to make a reservation for their Dim Sum Brunch way in advance. For us, it was 4 weeks. Is it worth it? Of course I always start with Har Gow and Siew Mai. These were pretty decen…
We got to try the Roast Duck (above): crispy skin, juicy meat and good marination. Excellent sauce. I'm tempted to come back and try the Peking duck.
I can never resist a good fried chicken wing and my resolve for a diet always melts whenever I walk past a fried chicken shop.
Just like what they mentioned via words of mouth, the taste was traditionally good. No doubt they are famous, I still find that there are tastier fried chicken wings in Singapore. Nonetheless, the pricing of the chicken rice was perfectly reasonable.

千喜相逢 - 枣皇雪耳炖桃胶,传统甜汤里以流行的桃胶伴着雪耳与大颗红枣,冰凉解腻又滋润。
What is better than Deep-fried Glutinous Rice Cake (煎年糕, 年年高升) to round up the reunion dinner. Having the meaning of great advancement in the year ahead, this is a delicious dessert which one can also enjoy at the comfort of one’s home.
This special new year dish features a golden baked homemade bun and tender pork spare ribs basted with homemade white pepper and shiitake mushroom sauce created by Song Garden Executive Chef Wong.
For the Waffelicious And Spicy Moment At Montana Singapore, we prefer the Savoury Waffles to the Dessert Waffles.
Montana sure has come a long way from its humble beginnings some five years ago. From a humble waffle bar, tucked away in PoMo, this stalwart in Singapore's waffle scene, has since grown into a two-storey hideout for brunch lovers in the heart of Selegie. Looking at the recent additions to their...
Overall, some things have changed at Montana Brew Bar, but thankfully the key ingredients – good food, service and reasonable prices were still there.
The changes at Victor’s have been very minimum. They still served solid dim sum, with minimum fuss. I must say for the quality of the food, Victor still kept their price increase to the minimum. Definitely, a must-visit HK-style Dim Sum in Singapore. Cheers!!
Have a H.K. Summer Iced Milk Tea (S$3.20) along with your meal. The drink comes as a cup served in a bowl of ice so the drink doesn’t get diluted over time.
Back again to the things worth coming for is their steamed chicken rice.
This Dragon Boat Festival (端午节 Duan Wu Jie), celebrates the time-honored tradition with age-old traditional glutinous rice dumplings from The Hainan Story, perfect for a heart-warming family get-together and gifting!
Finally got to try Hainan Story after months of wanting to go. We started with simple Kaya Toast, Honey Butter Toast, Half Boiled Eggs and Kopi.
The Hainan Story has new bubble tea items with a collaboration with Baocha that will tempt even the most discerning bubble tea enthusiast. There are flavors like Hazelnut Earl Grey Milk Tea and Hazelnut Oolong Milk Tea for a melding of east and west.
After another satisfying meal at Eat 3 Bowls (呷三碗) with a friend, we walked past a coffee shop located within Sultan Plaza and immediately...
With big portions and tasty food, l will be back for their tasty mee sua and more boozy seafood noodle goodness.
While you’re here, try out some of their other unique seafood noodle dishes as well!
This Michelin-listed duck place (665 Buffalo Road #01-335, 6396-0969) was pretty good.
They offered a seriously deep, savoury salty and herbal braising sauce, resulting in a flavourful albeit slight thick and chewy duck, and rice that went down quickly. The soup was slightly herbal and sweet. This was traditional and good old school stuff.
I am super big on hawker centers in Singapore but it might surprise some of you that I have never tried the food in the famous tekka center ...
All in all, we had a pretty good meal, and I can see myself returning — not sure when, because I'm not a fan of Chinese food, and I don't know when I'm going to splurge on a meal like this again.
The Hokkien Noodles ($28) wasn't as heart-stoppingly lard laden as the ones whipped up by the roadside stalls in Kuala Lumpur, but this was decent.
No doubt prices are expensive, and I believe is higher than some diners would expect for the quality provided.
This was a really nice old-school restaurant sitting below a bunch of HDB flats, offering particularly tasty and good-value reunion dinner sets.
All in our party enjoyed the lunch at Westlake today.
The two main dishes turned out to be the best dishes of the day. The black pepper pork ribs tasted great. They were cut into thin slices and thus were soft and easy to eat. The gravy was very good as well.
It was all delicious enough to eat quickly, but that was also a function of the disappointingly small portions.
All in all, I find the dishes available here to be quite a novelty. I’d say half the menu is alien to me, and complimented with half that locals would already know.
The Fifth Season Tangra Chinese Restaurant has a seating capacity of about 70-pax and they are on major delivery platforms too. The peak timing for the restaurant during dinner is after 730pm.
The noodles were gummy, chewy, firm if not a bit stodgy, coated in a plentiful, greasy and primarily savoury and slightly sweet sauce with fresh crispy pork lard on the side. The soup was clear and slightly sweet. The fishballs were the bomb, clearly handmade, springy yet tender, with nice uneven texture, and a fresh and sweet fish flavour. One of the nicest fishballs in Singapore.
Worth the queue, worth the calories, worth getting out early from the house for.
Each bowl of noodles was $4(for both dry and soup versions). If I’m ever craving for fishball noodles, I’ll come here.
Serves Fuzhou cuisine, which is not common in Singapore. Efficient service. Limited seats. Can get crowded during meal times
The noodles dishes at Seow Choon Hua Restaurant were simple comfort food which were delicious and enjoyable.
Foo Chow Fishballs are different in that they are stuffed with minced pork. It is authentic, with a big heavy fish paste engulfing minced pork flavoured just like times of old.
For those who’re looking for a final taste of the bak kut teh, be sure to make reservations to secure a seat.
Overall, I have enjoyed the meal at Founder Bak Kut Teh. I like the addition of the new dishes, giving diners a more complete meal experience.
Today, their consistent quality over the years means they still remain a solid place for Bak Kut Teh, albeit with slightly more premium pricing.
If you do visit, suggest the first 4 dishes and also many other tables had crab dishes on them, so might be good try too!
It was a delicious dinner and the service was superb.
To me, Wing Seong reminds me of the family dinners I usually have with my family. The simple zhi char style is non-costly and heartwarming. If you're near bugis area, why not drop by and give the authentic cantonese cuisine a try?
I find the food here decent at best. Although it did not impressed me in the taste department, what is worth mentioning is how the stall managed to keep prices affordable for the elderlies in the neighborhood all these years.
I find the food here decent at best.
The chilli is on point, similar to the one at 88 Roast. Blended with fried Ikan Billis and fermented bean paste.
