Roti Babi, 11 ringgit There were several dishes that were popular here and one of them is the Roti Babi. Just by looking around, you’d be able to see this dish on almost every other table. Sure, it is loaded with calories but it was da bomb. The top and bottom of this dish is made up of french toast and on the inside, there is a generous portion of flavorful pork minced meat + caramelized onions. Yummy!

Pan Mee, 9.50 ringgit It was yummy! The noodles here are made in house, it was chewy and had a more springy consistency. The dish came with the usual items – thick noodles, egg, anchovies, mince meat with a side of vegetable. Once you give it a nice mix, it becomes thick and gooey. Some folks like it that way but if it is still a lil too dry for you, just add in a spoonful of that soup and you’re set. Delicious it certainly was. Yum!

As for Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee, I find that the chili is less spicy, slightly more on the fragrant side, and with salty end. Noodle texture is about right, as they have its unique mouth bite texture which is like half chewy half soft.

Priced at RM8, Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee is served with wheat noodles, spring onions, fried ikan bilis and garlic, and a soft boiled egg, accompanied with a small bowl of sayur manis soup. To complete the whole dish, scoop out some chilli in the plastic container on the table and mix it with your pan mee.

Conclusion: if you love steamed nasi lemak, pork curry and sambal cuttlefish, this is the place to be. Fried Fish Paste Noodles, 11.90 ringgit Food was good. I especially loved the broth. It was milky and the taste of fish paste was evident, prominent. The dose of Chinese wine was a good addition, it provided that extra ‘kick’, one that made slurping the broth an even more joy. They had 3 options for noodles and while I was intending to have my dish with YM – yellow mee, the waiter suggested that it would go better with MH – mee hoon. Since they do not offer an option of mixed noodles, I went along with their suggestion. The noodles sure were generously portioned. I was very hungry when I arrived and by the time I was done, I sure was stuffed. Burp

Chef Wong takes on a bold approach with the Steamed Soon Hock with Nyonya Sauce (RM30 per 100gm). The fish is smothered in a piquant and spicy Nyonya sauce that is redolent of spices and herbs. Although the sauce is robust and heavy in flavours, one can still taste the sweetness of the firm and tender flesh of the Soon Hock fish. The dish beckons for a bowl of steamed rice as the sauce is moreish and addictive.

We went for the roasted chicken and I was impressed by the generous portion that arrived. Food was great! Where do I even start. The Curry Mee here is special – not only do you get to choose the noodles you want, you can also choose the filling. Whether you fancy clams? Pork meat? Pork skin? Pork balls? They have it all. I opted for clams and pork skin + mee hoon for noodles. It was good, yaw. The broth – it was flavorful in a way that you cant stop slurping it and not overwhelmingly spicy to an extent that your tongue burns – nope, it simply was the right amount, appealingly so. If you are one of those who needs that spicy ‘kick’, then worry not, they do provide you with extra chilli on the side to satisfy your craving. There were plenty of filling – long beans, tau fu pok, pork skin, clams, several other greens – all fresh and chewy, a good addition to the curry mee.
