A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
I'm not a shareholder if anyone was suspecting. I just like their food.
Spice Brasserie at PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road has reopened its doors and we are all ready for their Christmas buffet.
亚洲街头美食任点自助餐只在周末推出,星期六与星期日午餐,星期五至星期日晚餐,每人$58。
I always like the buffet offered by Spice Brasserie. Since now it is ala carte format, it is even better. Sit back, order and eat.
The roast duck has a crispy skin, with firm meat but may be slightly dry in my opinion.
Definitely worth many return visits despite its location.
When it’s good, they are the best sio bak in Singapore, and perhaps the best char siew. But when it’s bad, it’s disappointing.
I am so happy that they have the option of white rice here which I gladly opt for over yam rice. There is a healthy portion of duck meat on the rice all drenched in sauce with herbal notes.
The braising sauce was still sticky, tasty and layered, but something was missing. While the braised duck was still fairly tender and moist, it seemed to be sliced just that bit thicker compared to South Buona Vista, which made for a more chewy bite.
I would recommend to dine-in instead for a better dining experience.
At least the dumpling was decent, big in size and had a crunchy bite. The star of the dish was really the noodles with the special sauce. Not too sure that it is worth the $5 price tag.
The dumplings, I must admit is one of the best I have had with any Wanton Mee.
A resounding yes. Some may dispute if it is worthy of the long wait, but at least for me, the wanton noodles is a taste I am fond of.
On the whole, the food is lighter than elsewhere, and are suitable for older folks. Parents and grandparents may appreciate it.
The dishes lean towards a mix of Sichuan and Cantonese fares at this branch, and it is one Chinese restaurant to check out in Farrer Park.
餐馆环境提升,菜单上也做出调整。
It is an old hardware store converted into a cafe. They also have a workshop/shop on the second floor that sells handmade stuff. They are super famous so be sure to come early or avoid lunch hours as it is crowded. The Nearest MRT station is Bendemeer MRT Station.
Overall, the food was tasty and with such a rustic environment, it's hard not to come back again.
Chye Seng Huat Hardware (or CSHH) is coffee roaster Papa Palheta’s flagship store.
I definitely enjoyed the meal although both the Greatest Kon and Alex were less impressed. For me, I believe this kind of food would appeal to my mom, who is a fish lover!

Lil’s Taproom is a craft beer joint located at 11 Sam Leong Rd, in the heart of downtown Singapore. After our craft beer escapades in Hanoi and New Zealand, we really wanted to check out how the craft beer scene in Singapore has developed in recent years.
Overall, it is nice to see the expansion of a hawker brand and Hambaobao is a casual concept to check out if you love some interesting burger flavours.
Red Eye Smokehouse Singapore Review with pictures of menu : American BBQ & Smoked Meats, USDA beef ribs, Iberia pork, smoke chicken ...
Red Eye Smokehouse is probably the best among the three American-style BBQ restaurants in Singapore.
Buns and pickles are served on request with no additional charge. I'm pretty sure I'd like to drop by again sometime.
A Chinese chap chye (羅漢齋) that was super light on fermented tofu, and bok choy, plus a small plate of steamed minced meat with salted fish made it a filling meal.
I would recommend here for a bowl of homely and comforting Pig’s Organ Soup 猪什汤 in Singapore. It is best to have it during rainy days too. They are on online delivery platform as well.
Lavender Food Square was one of my favorite makan places before it was demolished to make way for the 16-storey ARC 380 commercial building.
My dining companion said, "I prefer the Hokkien Fried Dai Loke Mee to Yu Kong Hor."
The Moonlight hor fun was served with a raw egg on top, tossed in a black savory sauce, and pork lard.
Food at Creamery Boutique Ice Creams is all about desserts, a blend of Western and Asian flavours, focusing on artisanal small batch ice cream and home made cookies.
Prices are comparable to other dessert parlours, budget about SGD $10 per person.
All in all, with it's contender KOOKS Creamery that has been around for some time, Creamery Boutique is in a fierce competition.
One may need to order a larger selection of BBQ dishes to enjoy that setup. Nevertheless, the BBQ Pork Belly alone made our visit worthwhile, leaving us eager to return and explore the rest of their BBQ menu.
I'm really surprised that such a glorious dish isn't better known.
The round croissant Passionfruit La LeBombz was layered, flaky, buttery and a bit heavy, although the passionfruit cream was just a tad too sweet.
We would not stand in a long queue for circular croissants but, having tried La Levain’s La LeBombz, we would say they are “worth the hype.”
The quality & variety of fresh artisanal bakes will be the main reason to visit La Levain bakery cafe; nice cosy spot for coffee and pastry.
Lucid – Coffee at Hamilton Road Lavender
Lucid is a bright contemporary cafe that can be a haven for those who want some peace and quiet. It is a great place for good coffee.
I will definitely be back to try more of their bakes too!
Oberstrasse is a small cafe close to Lavender, and it features some good coffee and brunch plates. I went for the Crab Benedict. While the Crabcake was a little overfried it was still a pretty good…
We liked the coffee at Oberstrasse Cafe. The staff was cheerful and friendly. The prices are reasonable, especially when you consider that no GST or service charge is added to the bill.
The only down side I would have think of is perhaps the smell on the clothing after dining. I don't mind returning for sausage and rosti.
Antea Social is a contemporary teahouse that encourages you to slow down, relax and embrace the present as you sip on teas from the Orient.
We are already planning our next visit. Antea Social will be my go-to teahouse to escape from the world outside, aptly named indeed.
Make sure you take a whiff of the tea before you drink it as the aroma was simply wonderful!
Soi 47 King George Ave REview
We enjoyed our simple lunch at Soi 47 Thai Food. We would go try their other dishes such as Claypot Tang Hoon with Prawns, Pandan Chicken and Stuffed Chicken Wing.
As the new outlet of Soi 47 is just starting out, service can take a while. Keep them some time to settle down, and you will find this a good hidden gem in this part of Singapore.
Not hard to see why I keep coming back to Mahota Kitchen for their healthy, scrumptious food items, can you?
All the guiltless treats featured above can be ordered online at Kekito Bakery.
After eating, we didn’t feel heavy. The ingredients are indeed good quality, which contributes to how delicious the food is. I do wish the food is more affordable and I regret ordering the salad which is so little.
