Odette review - Odette’s reputation precedes it. A consistent presence on the World’s 50 Best, Asia’s 50 Best, and adorned with the coveted 3 Michelin
Odette Singapore restaurant at the National Gallery has won a lot of accolades in the short span of five years. From zero to three Michelin Stars. Unfortunately prices seemed to keep pace with the awards. We had almost given up hope of dining there. Until recently.
Such an upscale place meant that the service and decor were there to match, right down to the gorgeous stemware. Fortunately, lunch prices weren't as bad as I thought they would be; even the cheaper four course meal came with an array of amuse-bouche, palate cleansers, and petit fours, so much that we were stuffed.
Smoke & Mirrors is one of the destination that one should at least try once if ambience, music, and drinks are some of your key considerations.
So yeah, we paid for a good ambience and an afternoon free of children and great company. The food was truly second fiddle.
Courtyard Café National Gallery Singapore is a good place to rest tired feet and enjoy good local coffee and traditional kuehs.
I guess dessert is not Gallery and Co's forte and we will continue to visit for as long as those ribs and tacos are on the menu.
Bonus came in the form of a relatively empty cafe over a weekend too - looks like we are back in the good old days of leisurely lunches at the Museum.
Waiting times have gotten longer and portions smaller but the food is still good. I just wonder how long more my interest can be sustained if I would need to queue forever and wait for a table next time.
Tucked on the first floor of National Gallery is The Gallery Bistro, a museum cafe that offers all-day dining from a relaxing brunch in the day to an alfresco co bar at night with mains and cocktails while soaking in the beautiful views of the Singapore's skyline.
Aura is on the fifth floor of the National Gallery Singapore (which, by the way, has free entry for Singaporeans and Singapore PRs). Reservations Recommended; Non-Halal.
The happy meal was over far too soon, but we did enjoy the dinner here very much.
Service was, as expected, well above average, attentive without being intrusive, and sufficiently knowledgeable to recommend winning options.

Chef Bjorn and the Artichoke Singapore crew are serving up incredible Middle-Eastern fusion food and stunning cocktails, moves to River Valley
We noticed some good looking hummus and eggplant sitting in the countertop's glass case at Artichoke, so we grabbed a plate of each, along with other tasty treats like their white beans and fennel as well as a smoked falafel salad.
Famous Treasure Chinese restaurant opened at the Capitol Singapore mall in 2018, taking over the space formerly occupied by the Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant.

I am very excited to share with you more about Peppermint and its all-you-can-eat a la carte Peranakan buffet.
I never walk into a buffet expecting to be blown away, but I would say that the food at Peppermint is worthy of return visits.
Overall, the spread of Sizzlin’ Special by AquaMarine is too irresistible for meat lovers.
I am not sure if I've been here before, but it;s one of those large Cantonese restaurants serving banquets over multiple courses (65 Chulia Street #33-01, 6536-7833). That included that braised abalone and sea cucumber platter above, as well as that roast duck and steamed fish in the background.
I have been to at least 4 other outlets of Peach Garden Chinese Restaurant for their dim sum buffet and a la carte Chinese dishes buffet. A notable household name in Singapore, many Chinese families will choose Peach Garden as their venue for weddings or birthday celebrations. Serving authentic Cantonese cuisine, Peach Garden has strong accolades from publications like Singapore Tatler and Wine and Dine
A must-have delicacy for the Chinese New Year, the Black & White Sesame Nian Gao is soft and chewy with a very subtle hint of black sesame.
