Like I mentioned, this is a short food sharing and food review. I was there for a quick lunch and only ordered two versions of their nasi lemak. They also offer nasi lemak with butter chicken and maybe you might want to order that too. Mamalee Malaysian Cuisine famous nasi lemak definitely lives up to their reputation and it is a good alternative to the famous Village Park nasi lemak which is located on the same road and down the road. This is not a sponsored review.
Mamalee, the delicious and creative addition to our usual nasi lemak, the price was very reasonable with very big piece of L-shape chicken
Mamalee’s Salted Egg Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak is definitely worth checking out if you’re a big fan of salted egg! Located in Damansara Uptown, Mamalee is a Penang style Nyonya restaurant for casual dining.
達崗飯 Nasi Dagang really does literally means "Trading Rice".
Nasi Dagang Ikan Tongkol & Curry Chicken, 11.90. This, right here, is da’ bomb! It was the bomb 1 year ago and it still is the bomb. Sedap ooooooo 🙂 As expected, the gravy was flavorful and sweet and the ikan tongkol was delicious. The chicken came in a drumstick, it was tender, meaty and juicy. When you mix all the items on the plate and then have a go at it – sooo utterly delicious.
Last Sunday, we tried to eat as much food as we could in Damansara Utama because we have read so much about the tasty food in this area in PH's blog. At about 11 am, we went to Annie 1 because of PH's post here but the staff were too busy to clear used but available tables so we left to look for food elsewhere and ended up at Capital Nasi Dagang Kelantan which PH has mentioned many times too.
Inside Ipoh serves a great bowl of kai si hor fun. The noodles was the standout - thin and silky smooth - with robust and sweet broth.
The broth has a slight milky, cloudy hue – which is a good indication of the soup’s quality. And it did not disappoint – it was very robust and sweet. We love the generous amount of prawn oil. The prawns and shredded chicken were fresh too.
The Dry Curry Noodle was good. It may be a simple dish but a tasty one it was. The star here would be the thick, flavorful curry as without it, this would have been a ‘bleh’ dish. In my opinion, the choice of noodles too played a vital role. I requested for a mix between mee and mee hoon, it went well with the dry curry. With the dish, I received two chunky, meaty chicken pieces on the side. This dish I liked. A simple yet tasty dish.
Their Signature dish. Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik @ RM 13.90 (as you get to chose other variety style of Chicken) is pretty spot on. Was told by the server that they actually use original blue pea flower, not food colouring to make it out. The plant is also planted back all the way in Kelantan.

Overall, it was so-so dinner for us. Now, I realize why staff always double check the customer order before passing to the kitchen so that customer like me, don’t order the wrong food. If she have checked my order then I would be having their Nasi Kukus Hayaki instead of Nasi Lemak. But its okay, as their Nasi Lemak Biasa tastes better than Nasi Kukus Hayaki.
The rice was dry and hard. I could detect fragrant herbs including bunga kantan in the raw vegetables and the kerisik was fresh and crispy. Just mix everything up and add some of the sambal tumis (which was spicy hot).
My obvious pick here would be the Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng Berempah (RM12.90), with add-ons of Eggplant with Sambal (RM2.90) and Sayur Campur (RM2.90) below. The basmati rice was fragrant, not too overly rich, something which I liked, though my friend said that it could do with a hint more santan to boost. The sambal was sweet yet not too spicy, I can have this with almost everything. The fried chicken - was the bomb. It was spiced and marinated well, juicy, and had a fantastic crunch to it. I will never say no to fried chicken.
Dry curry chicken drumstick yellow noodle mix hor fun at MYR 10.90 nett. Finished everything except the yellow noodles because they are hard, almost raw and I don't think they are worth bringing home so I just left them.
I went for the Deluxe Big and Tasty (Beef) as recommended by the lady. This was a standard Ramly beef patty topped with a chicken slice and crispy hash brown. It’s not bad and I like the crunchy hash brown inside the burger. However, it took 40 minutes for the burger to arrive. That’s an insanely long wait for what is essentially a Ramly burger with a few pre-made, store-bought flairs.
The journey continues in Damansara Uptown as TAP and crew try out the big juicy burgers at Burger-mbira. It is time to #eatandchao!Eat & Chao is a weekly Eat...
Verdict Personally we found Burger-MBira to be incredibly satisfying. Their homemade patties and sauces and their unique twist to the traditional Ramly Burger made them stand out from the rest. It’s safe to say that Burger-MBira is one of the best supper spots in Damansara Uptown.
Bought 6 egg tarts and kept 3 for other days because there is a bulk discount for buying 6. The cold Vintage Nan Yang Coffee C drink is very tasty!
I ordered chicken hor fun (MYR 11.20+ 6% sst = MYR 11.90 nett). The two prawns did not have the taste of fresh prawns so I did not like them but the soup and hor fun noodles are fine.
Verdict: For an established eatery like Nam Heong, I definitely expect more that this. Food we tried was below my expectation and it would be hard to be convinced for a revisit anytime soon.
All in, we really enjoyed the creative flair that chef Jun and team brings to their bowls of noodles here. The Lamb Noods were stellar, but the Tomatoes were a surprise hit – we might actually prefer this now due to its more-balanced flavour profile.
Fast forward to 2020, the boutique noodle bar Bowls of Steel (BOS) is testimony to just how far Jun’s passion has taken him. Every bowl of handmade artisan noodles here is a culmination of artful experimenting and innovative marriage of ingredients like no other.
I was very pleased with this claypot chicken rice. There were generous chunks of boneless chicken (not from the breast I am very sure) and slices of lap cheong in the rice. Very aromatic and delicious. Portion size is fair and for an average person, this is adequate but I could eat more hee...hee...
“未来食堂”提供的料理选择不多,但每一样都是高水准。美食中心这里的其他档口也是,虽然价格不便宜,但是吃得开心。我喜欢带家人来这里用餐,大家可以各自点自己爱吃的。忘了说,这里的奶茶也很不错哦~
This whole cendol experience was overpowered by not-very-nice tasting durian and I'm afraid it was not the experience I was expecting. Cendol with fresh durian flesh would make a world of difference. So, curiosity satisfied, no more.
Of all the accompaniments, the most outstanding was the beef rendang. It was delicious. The satay lacked charring but it was nice in its own way and I shall not compare it with regular satay that we get at satay joints. As for the fried chicken, it was simply fried chicken.
On Tuesday, when we went to One Utama for our errand, we stopped by Chef Omar at Uptown to buy takeaways as the food photos taken by PH has us salivating at the food. Mutton Kerabu at MYR 13.90 nett for my friend. Tasty!
My tummy is very happy and contented today. If you like this type of food and if you happen to be in Damansara Uptown, do swing by for a spot of Chef Omar's nasi lemak kukus or nasi kerabu.
Overall, I think this plate of nasi lemak was more than decent and Nasi Lemak Tanglin, Damansara Uptown deserves more than a 3.6 rating.
I rather enjoyed this roti canai wrap and though I would not say that it is spectacular, it makes for a tasty and filling meal. If you like burritos or wrap sandwiches, you will enjoy Rollti.
Okra Fritters RM6, our favourite dish here. Sliced okra coated with chef’s secret batter, deep fried to golden brown. So crunchy and addictive, couldn’t stop eating this. Lol.
Salmon Otak Otak with Daun Kaduk (Wild Pepper Leaf) at MYR 8.50+ (MYR 9.01 nett). It does not look nice but it is a little spicy and very tasty.
Sit back and enjoy a piece of tropical paradise over this long weekend with our coconut-based drinks
Affordable priced food, good ambiance and I’ll come back again for more tummy and soul comfort food or perhaps solely for the desserts.
Nyonya Seafood Pot (RM 38) ( 2 pax) Not too spicy, the nyonya seafood pot comes with the generous portion of fish, prawns and calamari. The Seafood pot comes with not just generous portion but the flavours are good as well. The seafood pot is what I love where it is appetizing with the sour and light spiciness taste.
Assam Fish tastes good; however I was expecting it to be thick as gravy rather than a dilute version. They were very generous with 2 slices of fish in it and it tastes good as well. Gerang Asam Fish @ RM 12

The highlight of the Nasi Lemak Harimau was the ayam goreng berempah and the otak serai. The ayam goreng had a strong rempah flavor and was fried really well, moist with crispy skin. The otak serai is otak-otak wrapped around a stick of lemongrass then fried. It was almost like eating a fried fish satay.
L04 – Nyonya Curry Laksa with Iced Kopi , 14.90 ringgit It was ‘sedaaaaaaapppppp’. For reals, yawwwww. I ain’t kidding. The gravy was thick and tasty, flavorful that I slurped up every drop, fattening nonetheless. They offer 3 choices for noodles here, I opted for the yellow mee. I usually go for the mee hoon + kuey teow combo but with the thick gravy, the yellow mee was the best. Besides that, the dish also comes with fuchuk, tauhu, green beans, fish cakes, shredded chicken. Delicious.
The highlight of the night was the popular Roast Pork pasta dish ~ also known as Siew Yok Aglio Olio well-loved by diners. This is a fancier version of the simple Italian pasta dish with porkiness twist to it. Siew Yok (Roast Pork) was housemade, roasted to perfection with the crunchy skin on the outside leaving juicy layers of fats and lean on the inside.
Mutton Masala Fried Rice (RM19.90) For those who are looking for some kick of umph and spiciness, grab this deliciously prepared Mutton Masala Fried Rice. The fried rice is well stir-fried till perfection leaving you with the moist and fluffy texture. And for the mutton, it remains in tender texture with no gammy taste in it.
Mutton Masala Fried Rice (RM19.90), Mutton Masala tossed with vegetables, egg and rice served with rice crackers. Superb!!
