What we like about this mall is the natural sunlight which brightened the entire mall. The mall is easy to walk and the design is not that complex. Thus, it is easy to walk around. We were there during lunch time and the office crowd came in. Most of the restaurants are packed and some restaurants were giving some promotions to get more customers.
What do We Like about Kompassion? -Foods were all great and delicious. Can see the efforts behind each dish from the ingredients used -Comfortable environment and attentive staff
Dinner was about RM250 for three pax, and considering how we ate so much, plus drinks and desserts, it was very reasonable. Kompassion has certainly upped their game, yet managed to keep their prices down at more affordable levels.
Our meal for four, inclusive of drinks and desserts, came up to RM250++. Considering the setting, as well as quality of food and service, I think this is a reasonable price. There are plenty of other dishes that I’ve yet to try on the menu, so I’m looking forward to my next visit. Reservations are recommended, but you can try walking in too.
Good service despite the crowd, less waiting time as they have more space. Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng (RM 12.30) is satisfying with big portion, like it better than Rendang.
The way that Malaysian standup comedian, Joanne Kam, lambasted the differences between Singapore style and Malaysia style nasi lemak motivated me to check out the most famous nasi lemak eatery when I was at Petaling Jaya (PJ) recently; Village Park Restaurant!
A good contrast in comparison to the sight and smell of the rendang daging and fried chicken.
My tastebuds have been ruined changed so it was not ecstatic like it used to be. But still, fulfilling a craving is a form of satisfaction even if it did not bring about the thrill that you expected.
As usual, noodle of choice is kuay teow. I'm afraid it was not as good as I remembered. No, actually I don't remember. Again, I suspect my tastebuds have changed.
The noodles were super loaded and the broth had a deep flavor. No regrets making this mistake.
The other day I got very hungry and did not bring any food with me. So I made my way to Li Wei @ The Starling and got myself the 3 Combination BBQ Platter (RM27.00). There you go - roasted chicken, char siew and siew yoke. I requested for the leg part of the chicken but was given the breast. The char siew was nice and fatty but the siew yoke was too lean.
There was a good measure of wok hei and the fish slices were fresh, so were the single prawn and small piece of squid. Flavors were good and the portion size was very generous. Yes, I enjoyed this gravy koay teow more than I enjoyed yesterday's curry mee.
So yeah, I like this Li Wei very much and you can bet that I will be visiting again to try the other items on the menu and to revisit my favorites.
We believe Table & Apron’s enduring qualities will ensure its longevity in the KL dining scene. After almost ten years, the food remains impeccable, and the service is still as enthusiastic and earnest as ever.
I'm stoked to savour my favourite Ulam Rice (RM38) from Table & Apron (T&A) restaurant after a 2-year hiatus.
While their specials and a la carte menu may see exciting options during holidays, the set menu has classic favorites. You can eat like a king, delighting over the unique combinations. Each set comes with spicy ginger tea and a choice of a delicious daily soup or salad. Only available Tuesday to Friday at lunchtime, show up early and dig in! In particular, the soft bone pork stew is a favorite. Served with garlic rice, glazed carrots, and a soy sauce egg it’s a sensory delight. Just…where to begin on this delectable dish?!
Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR), the specialty coffee roaster, academy and cafe which originates from Singapore, launched its all-new menu that features a fresh selection of artfully crafted comfort fare, elevated and redefined….
Chai Latte is one of their specialty recipe from their kitchen.
Flat White was good, less milk and more coffee taste. Flat White @ RM 12
I ordered my meal from the Light Bites section and the most suitable item was Chicken Karaage. It's not exactly ideal though since fried chicken is always coated with flour. The chicken was fried to perfection, the batter was light and crispy and the chicken was moist and flavorful. The crispy fried kaffir lime leaves added another dimension to the flavor and aroma.
At first mum thought of having The Really Big Breakfast that she always sees on my blog. But she changed her mind because it was late in the day and she wanted to make sure that she had stomach space for dinner. So mum copied my order and had the Grilled Chicken Salad.
I went to The Red Kettle and had the Pomegranate Smoked Salmon Salad. It was a very pretty salad, so colorful! This salad contains smoked salmon, pomegranate, quinoa, avocado, chickpeas, lava egg, pickled blueberries, almonds, chia seeds, orange, grilled broccoli, mesclun greens and ponzu dressing. I also noted ulam raja leaves. The ponzu dressing - very sorry, I did not like it. It was so so sweet. So I used very little of it. And the smoked salmon was very very salty, even when eaten with the other ingredients. So no more of this salad for me, I will stick to the Grilled Chicken Salad.
The servings are quire huge although the slightly pricy as all ingredients used is quite fresh. Conclusion, what a sinful dinning experience but wonderful dishes and friendly waiters. Rating: 9 /10
Stew Lamb with carrots at MYR 28.90+ (10% service charge = MYR 31.80 nett). The lamb shank is cut into 5 pieces and there is a lot of mashed potato so I kept 3 pieces of the lamb meat and half the mashed potato for lunch the next day. This price is lower than the price of the lamb shank here so it is value for money. Warm water is provided foc so all 4 of us did not order any drink.
Mixed Sausage Platter where you get to choose 4 sausage of your choice accompanied by potato salad or mashed potatoes and sauerkraut grilled sausages are served with onion sauce. This is a must order because sausages is the highlight! You will get to try different kind of sausages and yes, every single of them tasted very different. You may want to ask the waiter/waitress if you wish to know the name of all the sausages before you eat, which we did not do. So at the end we only know the thin and long one is nice, but we don’t know what sausage is that.
My eyes lit up the moment I had a spoonful. The chicken is so tender that its meatiness didn’t get to me, a fussy eater. I usually don’t like meaty chicken because the marinate doesn’t seep into the inner part of the meat, so it comes off bland and dry. Not this one. The char siew was the-right-amount charred on the outside, tender on the inside, and it freaking melts in the mouth! What is this magic?! Even the char siew from Village Roast Duck (relatively pricier restaurant) is hard and unenjoyable... I do love their duck meat and crispy pork though. The char siew chunks were thicker than my liking, but because it was so soft and I must say this again, melts in the mouth, I didn’t mind the thickness at all. Aside from the sweet glaze it was marinated with, the uncle will finish off the presentation with more sweet sauce poured onto the char siew. It’s not too sweet, but sweet enough that when mixed with the flavourful rice, it becomes addictive.
Overall, for me; this is a WanTon Mee stall which is a possible re-visit in the future.
Broth is not too coconuty nor oily and a small plate of extra sambal is provided. Great stuff, although 滑鸡 Chicken would have been perfect (Chicken floss was the replacement)!
The Pork Shoulder Chop on its own was actually good because it was tender and moist. But the brown sauce was way too salty. So I scrapped most of it off and ate only the meat. There was also a bit of porky smell which was unfortunate.
One of my most satisfying meal in a while, and reservation is recommended. I like the Spanish ribs, it is the salty version and not those sweet bbq sauce. The sausages is superb as well.
Iberico Pork Sausage (RM12.90), Farmer's Bratwurst- English Parsley Sausage (RM10.50) and Garlic Sausage (RM10.50) Comment: 3 of these sausages taste really good on its own, very tasty, juicy, thick and firm, definitely premium quality!
I didn’t manage to visit the restaurants but some of my friends do visit the pubs here at night and they enjoyed it. Thus, I also did some of my grocery shopping in Ben’s Independent Grocer Supermarket.
At the end of the day, it is just comfort food for the craving of Hokkien Mee in PJ. We don’t believe they offer the best hokkien mee but when you crave for Hokkien Mee, Restoran Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee is one of the few places to visit.
The Hokkien Mee is delicious. This tick noodle is cooked with pork lard and thick soya sauce, added with shrimps, crispy pork skin, and cabbage. It is very rich in flavor, melty sweet savoury in the mouth with a tiny bit crunchy texture from crispy pork skin, cabbage, and shrimp. It is very yummy, especially when I added their garlicy chilly sauce. YUMMM…
The perfect night always consists of amazing companies and delicious meals... Join me with my beautiful friends in eating authentic Kuala Lumpur’s local food...
A Pie Thing is your answer to savoury and sweet pies in Petaling Jaya. This OG pie shop serves beef, chicken, lamb, and veggie pies, and the best Lemon Curd pie in town.
Taste:8/10(Good. I satisfied with the taste of the chicken mushroom pie here however I think they can still improve on the taste of the crust).
The Mashacre version consists of mashed Potatoes, Sweet Peas and laden with smooth, luscious gravy. The choice of our Pie was Chicken Masala... carefully cooked and seasoned Chicken Masala filling encased in a flaky, buttery pastry skin. We were worried if the combination would turn out to be overly salty but to our surprise, it was well-seasoned on the dot. We thought it was very filling but had to leave some space for their sweet varieties
The Nasi Lemak Pork Rendang attracts me when I looked at the menu. I am loving how the fragrant nasi lemak is done with the fragrant blend of coconut rice together with the generous portion of pork rendang together with the cucumbers, anchovies, kangkung and half an egg.
No question that definitely like this hidden bar, with so much booze to choose from and if other food items in the menu are as good as tonight's mutton varuval, then good food as well.
Of course there are some that I really enjoyed- all Tea Garden, LC 1 (RM 32) and Kopi Ice (RM 35) were all super easy to drink. I’ve always dislike eggwhite in cocktail but I do not dislike this, probably because of the floral hints from lavender. Despite looking ordinary, I am putting LC1 and Kopi ice as a strong contender for one of the tastiest cocktail for the night.
[Non-halal] Our favourite Pan Mee Soup can be found at Restoran Hock Thai, SS2. Throughout the years, the noodles had been consistently good.
The hand-pulled noodles are always smooth and thin, with a nice bite to it that is not too doughy or chewy. We also find the clear soup to be perfectly balanced with enough umami from the dried anchovies, and sweetness from the sayur manis.
one of the best places for Charsiew on Hakka noodles!
Like I mentioned, this is a short food sharing and food review. I was there for a quick lunch and only ordered two versions of their nasi lemak. They also offer nasi lemak with butter chicken and maybe you might want to order that too. Mamalee Malaysian Cuisine famous nasi lemak definitely lives up to their reputation and it is a good alternative to the famous Village Park nasi lemak which is located on the same road and down the road. This is not a sponsored review.
Mamalee, the delicious and creative addition to our usual nasi lemak, the price was very reasonable with very big piece of L-shape chicken
Mamalee’s Salted Egg Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak is definitely worth checking out if you’re a big fan of salted egg! Located in Damansara Uptown, Mamalee is a Penang style Nyonya restaurant for casual dining.
Would I come back on my own? I don't think so but if my brother wants company to share a fish head curry meal, I would be game to return.
没想到这里的咖喱那么好吃,尤其是 Fish Curry,小的份量里有一块鱼肉、羊角豆、菜豆和豆腐卜,味道好到可以扯很多饭
Overall, Ratha Raub is a MUST TRY restaurant for Fish Head Curry lovers. We will definitely be coming back for more very soon.
I found myself at Mr Tuk Tuk after a long, long time. So I ordered my favorites - Tom Yum Fried Rice and Almond Chicken. The fried rice was as good as ever!
The Tourism Authority of Thailand launched a new campaign which are "EAT THAI, VISIT THAILAND 2019". So, they are doing the collaboration with Mr Tuk Tuk, Thai restaurant in Starling Mall at Petaling Jaya, This campaign started from March 20 till April 30, 2019. Mr Tuk Tuk have 8 outlets that you can pay a visit to Mr Tuk Tuk restaurant, which are nearer your home or office area. Even, they also introduced some new dishes and drinks in Mr Tuk Tuk restaurant
Due out of curiosity, we also did order a set of Tuk Tuk Laksa RM10.80 – serving with a bowl of laksa broth, spice leaves, bean sprouts, salted vegetables, and rice vermicelli. The result was surprising “Aroi Mak Mak Mak” (very very very delicious), once you dipped the rice vermicelli into the laksa broth and start chowing, next thing you can savor is the rich mellow goodness of coconut milk that directly overcomes with a fine scent of dried shrimps, lemongrass and various spices. We regard it as a delectable “Thai” laksa at its best, definitely worth our personal two thumbs up! 😉
