I don't know if these guys are really from Joo Chiat, but that was the name of the new stall number 28 at Zion Riverside Food Centre.
I'm not entirely clear on the difference between white kway teow and Penang kway teow, but I assume that this is just char kway teow without the dark soy sauce. It still had those Chinese sausages in there, and I liked that this one from Riverside Good Food was peppery and featured some extra greens. But I'll probably stick to their Hokkien mee.
I'm pretty sure that I've eaten at this stall before (70 Zion Road #01-20). But I've really only taken notice now that I've become a bigger fan of Hokkien mee in recent days.

Zion Riverside Food Centre has finally reopened after going through five long months of renovations! Although it is one of the smaller hawker centres, it is home to several popular stalls. Here are twelve stalls that you should check out while you’re here!
I had always been kinda curious about this Malay stall at Zion Riverside Food Centre (70 Zion Road #01-29). I braved the line at lunch today and got this soto ayam. It was a tad sweet, but her chili sauce was pretty powerful too, which made me happy.

Here is the oyster omelette from Riverside Good Food at Zion Riverside Food Centre (70 Zion Road #01-21). It's a nice starchy, crispy, and savory grease bomb, and they are pretty generous with the pork crackling on top too. My only gripe is that the chili sauce is a bit sweet, but it's still fun to eat.

Avoid peak dinner-hours if you are too hot to wait.
I can see the fresh takes here at Zion Road Big Prawn Noodle being popular, especially with those looking to slurp up warm bowls of prawn noodles in an air-conditioned haven.
This was a $16 bowl. It came with two of those large prawns - each half of those makes two mouthfuls of springy prawn flesh. There're braised pork ribs and pig skin and the bowl is topped with fried lard & shallots. The broth was delicious. Flavourful, spicy and heart warming.
I haven't had a flavour like that in a long time with all the variety of imports that we've had in the last decade.
