Well, in regards to the one here, if you loveee the tender, juicy meat on the inside, with a perfect ration of fats and meat and it all simply deliciously melts in your mouth – then, this eatery would be awesome for you. It was yummy. I enjoyed myself. It really does melt in your mouth. No joke. It sure was an experience.

My Personal Opinion The big head prawns, being their signature dish, didn't taste anything like those juicy, sweet-tasting freshwater prawns I've eaten in sang har meen elsewhere. In fact, they even look different from some of the prawn pics I saw online. Perhaps the ones offered in their promotion are of a different quality. ^_~ Ok, ok, I guess I can't and shouldn't expect too much from big head prawns priced at RM39.90 for three. So, if you're here, you might want to get those prawns that aren't at promotional prices but you'll have to pay more for them obviously.

If you love steamed fish, please order the divine Orange Roughy Steamed in Ginger & Soya Sauce. Imported from New Zealand, it’s a rather fearsome-looking fish with the smoothest silkiest texture ever and hands-down the best tasting fish I’ve had so far this year!

The Kam Heong Butter Milk Prawn was served in a claypot. Bubbling upon arrival, the pot of prawns is deliciously aromatic. A luscious thick orangey sauce with lots of aromatics of curry leaves, onions, dried shrimp and spices paired well with the fresh sweet prawns. Best eaten hot, the kam heong sauce is lip-smacking yum, so much so that you’ll end up sucking the prawn shells for every bit of that sauce.

I absolutely loved this Cantonese chang because it doesn't use soy sauce in the rice (besides the rice being not fried) which allows me to taste the glutinous rice grains in its pure form. On unwrapping the chung, I could see a bit of the rice stuck to the bamboo leaves which I didn't mind at all as that would mean the chung is less oily.

Dried Handmade Pan Mee, 8.50 ringgit This dish was yummy. It basically consisted of rather colorful yellow, green homemade noodles + minced meat + fried pork fat + fried anchovies + seaweed? It was a good mix between oily and spicy. Tasted delicious, as soon as it arrived at our table, we started gobbling it all up. Definitely a dish I’d order again

I do have a favourite prawn mee in PJ which I've not gotten round to blogging about coz I've not had that prawn mee in quite a while. However, this is still a very decent prawn mee...but was it better than my favourite prawn mee in PJ? Hmmm....if I remember correctly, that one had a more intense prawn-flavoured broth but I won't commit until I've had a more recent tasting of that prawn mee to confirm that the quality is still as good as when I last tasted it.

Recently, my weekends were spent on hunting for prawn mee. Among the many prawn mee that I have tasted in the course of this search, I felt the one that I had at Restoran Xang Kee is worth recommending. This coffee shop is located in Taman Maluri, Cheras and some of the other popular food here include Western food and XO seafood noodle. In fact, the XO seafood noodle is a branch of Kepong’s.

The lunch didn’t disappoint us as expected. The food in De Maw Restaurant is still good and the quality is still maintained. Please take note that the waiting is long when the restaurant is packed but you can wait with a pot of hot Chinese tea. We heard many people complained about how pricey the food is in De Maw Restaurant but when you look at their menu, it is not that bad at all. In fact, we felt it is cheaper than most restaurants in the mall now. Like we mentioned earlier, please book your table in advance or take the risk if you plan to walk in. De Maw Restaurant is always top on our list and highly recommended.

The other pasta dish we ordered was the Meatballs Beef Bolognese Pasta @ RM18 served with 3 large meatballs in a typical bolognese sauce. The pre-prepared components, the meatballs may be a little dry but the bolognese sauce was pretty decent. You can't have too high an expectation here knowing that there isn't a proper kitchen but yet they're still able to assemble a hot dish to an acceptable taste level is commendable indeed.

I wasn't impressed with any of the desserts I tried here. In fact, I pretty much want to forget it altogether. You probably might not be sampling the same dessert platter since the choice of these 8 petite portions changes depending on what the chef puts out. Hopefully, the next time you're there, the pastries selection tastes much better than it looks.

For a cafe-hopping experience that is a bit out of the ordinary, Pretty on Plate offers that and more. As this is still the first week of operation for them I believe there would be ongoing changes. Service is welcoming and attentive. My concerns? 1. The price is a bit steep for the plated desserts; considering the portion served. While I understand that (1) quality ingredients are used, (2) every plate is prepared upon order similarly to a fine dining restaurant, (3) every component on the plate is painstakingly made (some via technologically advance methods), the average customer might not be able to fully appreciate such details. 2. The brioche wasn’t as rich (buttery) as its name suggested and I thought it might have tasted better warm; versus hard and cold. Now imagine a buttery warm brioche with cold ice cream.. mmmmmm… 3. Aaron had said there will be more desserts in the coming weeks and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the creation of some unconventional desserts; perhaps something of a signature that will set Pretty On Plate further apart from other cafes. No doubt the plated desserts concept is uncommon, but the 5 varieties offered centered around berries and chocolate (with the exception of key lime) which I thought was rather safe and universal. That said, I wish Aaron and his team all the best and many thanks for having me!

The flavour of the soup could still be better but everything from the tender, smooth poached chicken to the fresh, firm shrimp wantans to the slippery, translucent kuey teow were on point. ^.^ It tasted a lot better than many Ipoh sar hor fun stalls I tried...heck, it's even better than some Ipoh sar hor fun specialists.

I've posted about them some time ago that I like their seafood noodles (better than overrated B & Best in PJ). Their chilli is one of the signature item that makes the noodle so good - except the spice level went down over the years. I was not able to handle a spoon of chilli before but because they reduced the spiciness, I could definitely handle it now.

Decided to also give their sandwich a try. It all comes pre – packaged. So, they had 3 options – egg, tuna, 9 ringgit and chicken, 10 ringgit, which was what we opted for. It was a simple sandwich but totally worth your 10 ringgit. The filling was generous, loads of chicken bits, cheese, tomato and some mayo? Surprisingly delicious.

We like Nando's lunch offers when we're looking for a light and truly affordable meal. I like to go for the Chicken Hot Pot @ RM11.31 that features shredded chicken (stirred in your favourite peri-peri flavour) with vegetables and spicy rice. Although the menu pic shows vegetables of cabbage, carrot with green, red and yellow capsicum, the actual dish only came with shredded cabbage and carrot. The shredded chicken and vegetables have a bit of charring on them making them rather pleasant to eat. A simple dish that should appeal to children too.

Bun Heo Hue (With Pork) (RM 12.90) A must to try here is of course is the bun. It is indeed something unique compared to others. This will definitely spice up your life as most of their dishes are pretty mild but The Bun Bo Hue is indeed a great one. Enjoy the pho with the rich taste and full of bold flavours. The secret to this heavy bitter is the deep rich pork consommé married with lemongrass and it is slow cooked with onions and lots of spicy chilly too. If you love spicy, assured yourself with this and you will never go wrong.

Dried Meat Fried Rice (Small), 13.90 ringgit. The Dried Meat Fried Rice – delicious. The dried meat here is in reference to pork meat, the dried and sweetish kind? It makes for an excellent addition to a fried rice. The fried rice itself is cooked the usual ‘Chinese’ style, simple yet delicious. Add in bits of them sweet, chewy pork meat… yum!
