A hawker centre in Singapore which I grew up in, this city fridge food centre packs much nostalgia with many of the vendors having been here since I was young.
We certainly will return for all that we ordered but skip the Sticky Date’s Pudding. Nevertheless, we will try the Chocolate Molten Cake instead. And of course many other items that were on the menu that we yet to try.
Chef Petrina describes the braised duck here as very Teochew and very traditional. It’s a favourite of her mother’s and keeping things in the culinary family, Ah Xiao Teochew Braised Duck at Bendeemer happens to be run by one of her former Morsels chefs, so the connection is strong! Personal relationship aside though, this is braised duck with really high standards.

The laksa gravy was light yet so flavourful with a strong coconut fragrance. Once you start slurping the noodles with the laksa gravy, you cannot stop. That is how good it was.

I ordered the $3.50 portion, it was served with a good portion of thick bee hoon together with fresh-tasting ingredients a piece of half-boiled egg, cockles, slices of fish cake and tau pok with a handful of beansprouts. The gravy was light with a hint of dried shrimps and coconut milk. This homely taste is quite enjoyable.
I will definitely be back to try the fried fish lor mee, but you have to try the deep fried pork belly lor mee first!!
