Kok Sen Zi Char Takeaway Oddle Delivery: Claypot Yong Tau Foo, Black Bean Beef Hor Fun, Seafood fried rice ....
A colleague of mine introduced us to Kok Sen on Keong Saik, a Tze Char that produces great dishes. She was surprised that we hadn’t heard about it.
big prawn hor fun was not bad tasting but I wouldn't get it again.
I liked the good spread of the prawn paste flavour.
I have been wanting to try this for the longest time. Very savoury, prawny and delicious thick gravy of smooth egg, tau cheo (black bean), fried shallots and I assume garlic and a good number of prawns or prawn heads. The prawns were fresh and succulent, bouncy and sweet. The hor fun was nicely charred and full of wok hei. 不愧是老字号.
We might have only tried a few dishes but it was enough to say we were not impressed by Kok Sen. For good Zi Char, we will return for KEK Seafood or JB Ah Meng anytime instead.
Kok Sen is a restaurant with a long and colourful history as it is located in one of Singapore's most storied streets.

The queue is usually quite long if you come during lunch or dinner and to avoid such a long waiting time, you might consider making a reservation.
We will return to Kok Sen Restaurant for the Big Prawn Hor Fun and only when there isn’t a queue.
