head up to Yezi 椰子 steamboat restaurant today to experience a whole new level of dining experiences with friends and families.
We are served with their “Lala Soup” (RM 68) where they are preparing on the spot for us. First, they heat up the pot till it is hot and then they added with the little oil in it. After that, they stir them together with the fresh lala. With the fragrance, they add in the soup and ShaoXing wine in it. The soup comes simply fragrance and sweet making it so delicious just as it is.
For our inaugural Yezi experience, we had the Treasures of the Ocean (RM188) which comes with a crab and coconut broth, with aromatic rice wine. This set also comes with clams, prawn paste and coriander squid balls. Yezi uses 100% coconut water which gives the broth a lovely natural sweetness. Furthermore, coconut water is great in aiding digestion.
Verdict: A bit pricey, but you get good quality stuff here. Try the truffle mushroom soup.
Yezi is the first of its kind concept steamboat in Malaysia that uses a coconut-based broth inspired from a famous restaurant in ShenZhen, China. With emphasis on clean and healthy eating, Yezi's menu derives from a wide repertoire of organic and semi-organic ingredients fresh from farm to the table.
This festival menu is available from 1st October till 31st October 2016 at Bandar Utama and Mont Kiara KL outlet, priced at RM299nett for 2 pax without wine. A satisfying meal in an opulent oriental theme, putting together Golden Ball – Malacca inspired Fried Chicken Rice Ball with Saffron Coated Salted Egg Batter; Palate Cleanser – Pickled Vegetable; Broth – Ginseng Herbal Soup with Black Chicken and steamboat ingredients; Dessert – Japanese water drop cake on the table.
Although the hot dishes we had did not really impress, the steamboat here is satisfying enough to hit the spot. The amount of food served in the set meal might be underwhelming for some, so you will end up filing yourselves with all the mushrooms that never seem to finish. Unfortunately service was inconsistent with plenty of rooms for improvement, as some staff are noticeably more attentive and alert than the rest.
A must-have for the steamboat was this unassuming looking Coconut Dumplings. Simply a mixture of corn, chicken paste with coconut, it gave out uniquely fragrant flavour of the coconut with a light hint of the sweet corn. I thoroughly enjoyed the signature dumpling with the melt-in-the-mouth smooth and thin skin of the dumpling. You can see the speckles of the black truffle on the tasty dumpling in the photo above.
Verdict: Definitely one-of-its-kind premium steamboat experience for me. The prices might be on the higher side but commensurable with the gorgeous environment, attentive service and high quality food. This might not be a place we really afford to go often but I wouldn’t mind return for a special occasion or when I feel like splurge a little more for a luxurious meal ^__*
