The best item that we ordered (the bro agrees) was the fried chicken wings. They came in a set of three pieces, freshly fried and still piping hot. The chicken was marinated well and had great flavour, the insides were juicy, and the skin was crispy.

A hearty meal that is a staple for most local Chinese families, the Hokkien mee RM9.50 is presented on a banana leaf-lined plate and is ultra-popular largely because of oodles of prawns, pork, squid and generous helpings of lard fritters. The mee is thoroughly enjoyable on its own but for locals, the canister of sambal belacan on each table is one of Restoran Kim Lian Kee’s primary attractions (our personal favourite as well)! 😉

Both the dishes were yummy, especially when after the chilli paste was added. It was slimy, gooey, flavorful, a good dish. Nothing else to say. Yup. I personally liked the Hokkien Mee more than I did the Loh Shu Fan. Them fat, thick yellow hokkien noodles cooked in thick soy sauce – ooo yum! With squids and prawns – yes, I ordered their seafood option, the dish was awesome.

One of the signature for the restaurant is this Black Tea Curry Lions Mane Mushrooms. The curry is not too thick, yet you would easily need to bowl of rice for this. So easy to eat, super mild spicy with mild creamy. Instead of santan the replace it with Almond milk.

Salt Steamed Chicken in Chinese Herbs (Dong Ding) Salted chicken were marinated for 45 minutes, steamed with mixed herbs and tea. The taste may slightly salty, but the taste of medicinal herbs and tea aroma will linger and stay in your mouth. The added tea leave can reduce the greasiness of the dish.

The Kacang Kuih was good too. They added a generous portion of crushed peanut filling, which I appreciated because lets be honest, most of the kuih filling these days are getting smaller in portion size, lol. Another thing I liked was the powder flour that usually comes with this specific dessert, there was little here. Normally, by the time I was done with this kuih, there would be ‘ white powder’ all over my mouth but this one here, let’s just say I could ‘hantam’ peacefully without a worry.

We went for the roasted chicken and I was impressed by the generous portion that arrived. Pan Mee, 9.50 ringgit It was yummy! The noodles here are made in house, it was chewy and had a more springy consistency. The dish came with the usual items – thick noodles, egg, anchovies, mince meat with a side of vegetable. Once you give it a nice mix, it becomes thick and gooey. Some folks like it that way but if it is still a lil too dry for you, just add in a spoonful of that soup and you’re set. Delicious it certainly was. Yum!

Prices of RM1 - RM2 are certainly very affordable...and anything between 10 - 15 skewers per person (for an average-to-big appetite) should be more than sufficient for one to be fully satiated. Though the place seems better-known for its lok lok, it was the grilled and deep-fried items that ended up being the skewers that I enjoyed eating the most. They need to rethink their satay broth base or rework it into a thicker, nuttier, spicier, tastier satay sauce that rocks! ^_~ Eat here only if you can get past my side observation and is not squeamish about re-used sticks! :P

Food was good, yawwww. Very good. The pork sausage + chicken + salted fish + rice = Da’ bomb! As you mix the rice, scooping the bottom, the crunchy slightly burnt part mix with the soft, moist part – a perfect combo. The chicken pieces came infused with a ‘kechuppy’ flavor and it literally falls of the bone, the pork sausage provided a sweetness that complimented the saltiness from the salted fish. Maybe buffets aren’t that bad after all. Post-COVID-19 SOPs certainly make them much for pleasurable for introverted hygiene freaks such as myself. No one should complain about the quality and variety of food at Latest Recipe Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. And, while hubby holds none of my qualms, the half-price promo is undoubtedly a win.

Beef tendon wanton noodles in soup with extra beef stew gravy. Two sui gao are underneath the noodles. I ate one sui gao and can taste the peanut taste in it as mentioned in the menu that peanut is used in the fillings of the sui gao. Tasty!

Likes: Fine dining Chinese style - can be quite expensive but they deliver quality. Dislikes: Could be more socially responsible and remove shark's fin from their menu.. There are plenty of other "glamorous" alternatives for people to show off..
